  1. You would think it was satire. The amount of wasted resources for this is a joke

  2. 2023 Ireland 😂🤦

really hasn’t changed much since church was running this country

  3. Ridiculous.

Petty crime is keeping these courts in operation. Meanwhile real crime gangs in Dublin are untouchable as they would shoot the guards to death if they interfered with them.

They are focusing on teenagers smoking weed and allowing real crime to fester on this Island.

  4. If it was found in her home, there was a search warrant. So there is a bit more to this for all the people complaining.

  5. How about they spend those resources finding illegal immigrants

  6. What a joke. If I wanted a bit of weed it’s hard enough to get at the moment but I could get as much coke as I want as it’s literally everywhere. Can’t even go for a few drinks without some being shoved in my face at some point during the night.

  7. Good to se they’re cutting the head off the top of the supply chain here.

  8. > Gardai are waiting for a certificate in relation to an allegation that a woman had €5 of cannabis.

    > Emma McCarthy, 37, of 102 St Brigid’s Place, Portlaoise is accused of possessing the drugs at her address on January 27, 2023.
    >
    > A sitting of Portlaoise District Court was told Gardai are awaiting a certificate in relation to the alleged drug.
    >
    > Judge Andrew Cody was told the **alleged value of the cannabis** was €5. He adjourned the matter to Portlaoise District Court on December 17.

Alleged value of the ALLEGED cannabis. The cannabis is oregano until proven guilty

  9. Ah! I see they FINALLY caught Ireland’s Escobar. Qt last property prices will get cheaper. 👍

  10. If he pleaded guilty they wouldn’t need a cert?

The costs should be billed to the accused if found guilty

  11. Gardai value weed to €20/g,so €5 is about a quarter of one gram.

For anyone unaware, this is a picture of maybe 1/4 to 1/3rd of a gram, for reference – https://freeimage.host/i/J1vTZFt

You would get one, maybe two, small single-akin joints from that.

  12. Without cannabis being illegal the most misused and abused legalisation in the history of the state “the misuse of drugs act” becomes useless to gardai in the why they currentily utilize it.

Article 40.3. 1 of the Irish constituion has less standing and usefulness then the use a piece of toilet paper because at least you can wipe your ass effectively with the toilet paper.

The gardai can stop you anywhere at anytime for any reason, they just have ot utter the magic incantation “I smell Cannabis” to get your personal details and search you.
