  1. It’s a bit of a pisstake I think. She went to the post office and they said they were opening an investigation, but that was like 2 weeks ago

It was sent registered as well so I have tracking and everything

  2. Once it leaves Ireland there’s really f all An Post can do except enquire. I’d imagine postal services everywhere are way behind because of omicron.

  3. Exact same thing happened to me. Package all over Ireland and then sent back to the States without attempting delivery. I don’t think the post office did anything about it. $100 shipping down the drain. Infuriating.

  4. Backlog I’d say. I received a Christmas card earlier this week that was sent early December and it was _within_ Ireland.

  5. With the Omicron variant, there’ve been way more people missing from postal services. On top of that, posting it in December will cause it to move slowly with the rest of the Christmas post.

Tracking after it leaves the country might be an issue too. It might well have actually left the UK by now, it just won’t be trackable. Try the tracking code on USPS.com, (it might work or might only show up when it arrives in the US).

  6. I sent a Christmas present over to Chicago on the 8th of December. Having seen what was going on, I didn’t expect it to get there for a few weeks … it arrived in a week.

    I was beyond shocked.

  7. I just got a Christmas card in the post today that was sent in Boston on the 20th of December. Too bad that I’m not a member of the Barry Family from county Dublin, I’m in Cork city. I’ve seen a good few mis-delivered things over the years but it’s usually meant for a neighbour or someone a park up. I’ve never seen this bad a fail at delivering from An Post. The addresses are pretty close in fairness, but the county being wrong is surely a dead giveaway.

PS if your surname is Barry you live in county Dublin and you’ve been expecting post from Boston, it should be with you in a few days, as long as they don’t re-deliver it to me again

  8. I ordered a Christmas present for my wife that shipped from Cork on December 2nd, Anpost picked it up and took it to Portloise, then”Delivered” to the Anpost DSU back in Cork. It was supposed to get delivered to Seattle. USPS put the Anpost tracking number in the system but it never updated past Item Created. Out of the blue on the 20th, the shipper dispatched a completely new order number using UPS.
