Doesn’t help that Rottweilers are consistently owned by the worst owners possible. Sure, there are exceptions but man the number of rottweilers who are either abandoned and neglected or beaten and abused by their owners.

It happened in Manziana, a small country town on Lake Bracciano, 40km from Rome in another municipality… there were 3 dogs, and at least here in Italy a group of 4 animals or more is considered a pack. The event is certainly terrible but it does not take away the fact that this title is a shameful clickbait.
Owning a dog more than cat size should be under license in the city.
Just like the delusional pitbull owners week claim these aggressive dogs are great family pets, they will apologize and claim this man did something to deserve this.
These dog owners should be thrown in prison for life.

That’s horrible. And before someone comes up with Pitbulls, actually, the Rottweiler as breed is more powerful usually, it depends of course on the individual size of the dog. When there’s a pack, you have zero chances if you can’t escape in time, like climbing a tree. Once they get you and get you down to the ground, you are done.
In Switzerland, we have some serious strong laws. It was moved from federal- to state-law a few years ago, but with the SKN in the past, you needed both theory- and practical-training, every dog has to be registered, chipped etc. and you have to pay taxes. The laws are different now in each state, like with the lists of dangerous breeds – in my canton Zürich, some breeds like the Pitbull are banned, but the Rottweiler is not on the list.
There are still some exceptions, like when you travel through the country and you have a dog that is banned, you can still have him for some time there with the requirements of both the muzzle and leash.
The thing is, a muzzle alone is enough to prevent such bad things like bites, it’s not some quantum physics or rocket science, just put the fucking muzzle on and it’s fine.
This is a huge problem in Portugal too. We have a pack of over 40 dogs in the mountain near me. They kill livestock and two weeks ago ripped this woman’s dogs face off. She had to spend over 500 euros saving the dogs life. They jump over the size limit of fences (1.5 meters) no problem. The camera claims they don’t have the resources to do another about the problem so it continues to get worse. Three years ago we got a new law that shelters can’t kill dogs so the shelters are full and even when they catch the dogs in cages they just let them go. Eventually this will happen here too
