  8. A buffer zone is archaic thinking that fundamentally negates the will of the people in the buffer zone.

    What Orban is saying is that the only nations that matter and have real sovereignty are the ‘west’ and ‘Russia’.

    This kind of thinking should have been abandoned after World War 2 but as always Russia and its friends are backwards imbeciles that yearn for a time before big nations had to respect small nations and treat them with respect.

    Honestly it’s pathetic and also delusional coming from a nation that is small, unimportant, militarily weak and vulnerable.

  19. orban and the rest of the putin loving politicians should be reminding putin of russia’s obligations under the Budapest Memorandum. Did he mention that during his history fairy tale? I don’t recall hearing it.

  21. First time ever, I heard a fantastic idea from Putin’s manservant in Budapest!

    Orban’s plan would envisage the following points.

    In return for not joining nato, Ukraine gets:

    1.Its entire pre 2014 territory.
    2.The remains of Russia’s BS flotilla.
    3. A modest, but very modern, nuclear arsenal.
    4.Russia leaves Moldova and Abchazia.
    5. A 10 km deep mine field with state of the art fortifications, along all its borders, all paid for by Russia and nato.

    With a strong Ukraine, armed to the teeth for defense and capable of nuclear retaliation, any risk of a nato invasion of Russia through Ukrainian territory will be a fear of the past.

    The impenetrable defense lines along all of Ukraine’s borders, and the absence of any Russian warships on the Black Sea, will convince even the most warlike nato warmongers that a Russian attack through Ukraine is totally impossible.

    Et voilá, world peace comes nearer, no loss of sovereign Russian territory, and a Nobel peace price for Victor Orban!

    I will try not to puke when he receives it.
