Should the government make manholes more colourful/artistic?

1. I honestly wish we have those in Belgium too. Replace all the manholes and put something more colourful on it. You could give it extra meaning by using the theme of the city or some natural landscape.

   People who love culture would definitely love this.

3. In my area they don’t even have money to fix the roads, fix that first before trying to make it pretty

4. Yes, *durable* coloured manhole covers is an wonderful idea.

   However, flat roads without potholes would be a start.

   On pavements, they lay paving tiles down straight onto a layer of sand, then fill in the gaps with more sand, and expect these tiles to not to move. After three months they need to rip up the tiles and do it again.

5. There man hold covers are beautiful. Who can do this in Brussels? I can buy one for my road. Happily chip in a few hundred euros for it if:

   – It is durable and lasts for years.
   – The gemeente allows it.

   There are paving tiles in parts of Etterbeek like this. Occasionally down some roads you will see one paving slab made from a pretty mosaic. The council will carefully work around these when they repair the road.

6. There are better suited places for streetart than manholes!

7. I love the idea and am a proponent, but people here are bastards with bastard filling, coated in bastard and wrapped in a sheet of bastard. I worry they will be vandalized.

11. It’s every man’s own responsibility to make sure his manhole is colourful or artistic. The government doesn’t factor into it.

21. Stop wasting money on dumb shit like this and fix the stuff that actually matters. Like idk maybe the 500 potholes on every road longer than 1km?
