To be fair, the right one was propably built by germans (I count czechs as honorable germans, because they make good beer and shared history), and the post soviet renovation was paid by germans ;D
Look how we built in the 60s an extension of the old Station of my city, that hide that hideous façade of the 19th century. (Bonus point for the Highway that goes under the created extension and cut an entire quarter of the city from the rest of it.)
We can play this game too with extensions (national museum zurich)
That’s just not right, most of architecture in Eastern Europe is still old Soviet/Eastern block brutalist/minimalist kind, only in recent years have we begun to tear down old shit and replace it or renovate the old historical buildings.. Also most of the new buildings are just of the same soulless modern Western variety..
Obviously, the parking garage in Stockhom should be considered a crime against humanity, but is it just me that is not that impressed with the alternative to just build replicas of old architecture?
I understand rebuilding destroyed buildings and expanding existing areas with architecture that melts in, but with a brand new train station in a capital city, shouldnt we be a little more daring than that?
I fucking hate anyone who thinks we should keep building the grey and soulless blobs of misery. There is no negotiating my hatred.
Stockholm is further east than Prague (and many random towns for sure), so everything fits.

Art gallery cost €55m

Guess which one was built under Austrian rule.
meme wants to reject modernity. I reject meme.
watch football if you want to root for you team. we can celebrate all kinds of architecture at the same time.
You fool. You forgot that the Cheques are suddenly Western again whenever they do something good.
That is a fine looking Western European train station.
Hold my €250m beer

Culture has nothing to do with money. Also mostly more you move up north in Europe more you enter barbarian territories.
Sweden goes further east than the Czech Republic so title checks out.
Revivalism is boring and ultimately shows a lack of ideas.
Not every modern building is trash and not every neo-gothic or neo-classical building is beautiful.
Let me guess, the left one was build by archi-star
Bauhaus and Hippies created modern Dystopia.
Train stations all built before communism, when modern day Czechia was rich? What is your point.
that trainstation wasnt built this year? wtf
*Former Austro-Hungarian empire…
Windows are bad for paintings
Nah the left is actually a great build because it united both followers of classical architecture as well as followers of modernist architecture
– they both hate it!
It’s Sweden, it’s not supposed to look nice from the *outside*. It’s cold outside. No one’s hanging around.
