Lappeenranta 95% – have had some spiritual(drunken) walks from LUT University to the city center at 4 am and have never been in more peace without a soul anywhere, I once had some guy follow me (not really but enough to notice his presence) but I’m pretty sure he was just heading to the Central Park to go smoke weed
In my medium sized unnamed town, 99% safe on weekdays, 90% safe on weekends.
Since having been assaulted, no, I don’t feel safe.
Last place I lived had a problem of junkies trying to loot things from my yard and trying to crowbar in. Don’t remember how many times called the cops. This was not the only weird shit going on in the area. Slept with a baseball bath and menthol spray next to my bed. Didn’t feel very safe. After relocating have felt 100% safe.
Last year in September I was in Finland, Helsinki. Me and my girl friend attended a congress. One night after dinner we were going back to our apartment some dudes harressed us verbally. My analog camera was hanging from my neck one of them rudely insisted to take his photo and followed us. I explained to him with that camera can’t take his photo and even if I would can’t show him because it’s an analog model. He cursed and sweared me. We walked away quickly he left us. 5 min After that situation I took one photo of a beautiful street (I can’t remember now-but when I scan photos I’ll add here) and another man approached us and asked why I took photograph(?) I immediately explained him politely that we were tourists. I kept asking some questions and while this time he was following us. He asked me if I was police or something. I told him again that we are just tourist and we are not wanting any problems. So do I going to feel safe in Helsinki again? Besides this situations probably %99
Helsinki, 99,9. And I’m serious about that. If something happens it’s out of very bad luck of being at the wrong place the wrong time. I’ve never felt unsafe, just a bit uneasy a couple times in the middle of the night in the city center.
I live in Pori, id say i feel 97% safe, only reason it isnt a 100% is because Theres Been a little bit of theft happening here recently
Tampere: 100%
Medium sized city I lived in before: 95%
When I move again to another town I don’t expect this to change, 95-100% in all of Finland, at least where I’ve been
Jyväskylä, 50-100, depends on area
Helsinki. As a white male I would say 90 % safe. Maybe only on weekends at local train and metro stations there might be a few scary drunkards or narcotics. You just should not look at them, mind your own business and if they come to talk to you, be polite and chill.
And when Finnish are sober, they definitely mind your own business and don’t take contact to other strangers 😁
Itäkeskus, Helsinki. I was walking around drunk at 3 am lae summer last year and i saw literally nobody.
Live in a smaller town and i feel like 95% safe. Only because like 2 years ago there was some dead guy found beaten on the sidewalk apparently it was drug related but still makes me wonder if i’m at the wrong place at the wrong time.
A smaller town not far from Turku. I’d say about 50. We got wolves and they’re well scary
Well I pretty much live in middle of nowhere in southern Finland, there are some neighbours sure, but my neighbours mainly consists of just animals. 100% safe, no human interaction.
I’ve lived in 8 different towns, all in southern Finland and never felt unsafe.
Should have different graphs for women and men tbh
I live in Vantaa, got harrassed by 5 younger guys. Apart of that bad situation mostly safe. I do see drunk people doing nasty shit since I commute on weekend nights too.
Helsinki 50%
I am from turkey. I think my town is 70%-75% safe at night. %40-%45 at night when in the city.
Mariehamn/Maarianhamina 99,9%
Never once heard of anyone getting jumped or something. Only drunken brawls between equally stupid people.
Cops patrol quite frequently and words spread fast here so no one dares do anything really stupid and illegal.
The downtrodden addicts mostly keep to themselves and seldom cause any harm except the odd burglary at the pharmacy (shocker right?).
I was in Norway once visiting a friend and he told me that we were walking in the most dangerous area in Oslo at midnight, we were speaking in our mother tongue, and going without a care in the world; I was like:
– What do you mean? it looks so safe here, look at that teen sitting in the porch and that elderly couple nearby, it looks nice and quiet, where’s the danger?…
The old couple proceeds to run away.
– Oh I see.
Kotka 99%, but in few areas and at Weekends i’d say 65%.
100%, I don’t walk outside when it is dark (never in the midnight)
