My father just found this train ticket from the Belgian Railways in a second hand book in Tiel, The Netherlands. Is there anything special about it?

  1. I had a colleague who made the collection of train tickets but mostly STIB MIVB tickets.

Sometime the serial number, the trip or the date on the tickets are interesting .
For instance before the Mobib a ticket checked the 11/12/13 at 14:15 at Stockel which is the station number 16 for the STIB MIVB.

  2. Zeer waardevol document: enige rit in de geschiedenis van de Belgische spoorwegen die op het aangegeven tijdstip vertrok én aankwam.

  3. The ECU was in that time not equal to what the Euro is now. 880 bef is actually 21,81 euro.
And as others have mentioned, the tunnel wasn’t open yet, you had to take the train from the aiport to Brussels-Nord first, then get on a train to Antwerp/’s Hertogenbosch

  4. I think it’s rather special, I’m 3 days older than this ticket, i don’t know why, but that feels kind of weird to me
