The rise of far-right comes together with recession and uncertainty for the future.
Just a guess but the people voting for AFD aren’t the same as those demonstrating
because we are fed propaganda
It’s not a fucking mystery, far-right support will continue to rise as long as EU remains helpless in the face of migration.
How can that be? lmao
“How can that be” atleast since Trump we should have learned that reddit doesnt reflect a very broad spectrum of people
*”how can that be?”*
Gotta love the smell of wilful blindness in the morning
Where my logic become incorrect?
1. Germany have some economic and some migration problems.
2. Both these problems potentially could be solved by rise of Human Capital of Germans and migrants.
3. So Germany could solve them by investing in rise of their Human Capital.
4. The easiest way to do it – just pay money to people who prove their knowledge about Academic Logic, Cognitive Distortions, Logical Fallacies, Defense Mechanisms. About rationality and self-control.
Polarization.
The people at the demonstrations got it without issue, why can’t you?
Point is AfD is like Meloni 2.0 they’re full of hot air and offer no solutions to any problems but rather vow to crack down on freedoms under the guise of problem solving.
Lol. They gained 1%.
It’s how the algorithm works. You upvote a post/comment that says Nutsies vote for Tramp. And the algorithm will quite possibly completely disregard the implied compound meaning of such a comment. It just naively begin suggesting posts to you that are about Nutsies or are about Tramp. Comment on an article about the AfD? We’d best start showing you more content about AfD. The algorithm is designed to make you consume. It can only polarise you. The more you respond the more you see. Slowly radicalising you to like or dislike the thing more as you find yourself ever more bombarded with discussions about the thing you like/dislike. The only way out is to not respond. Especially when you consider the context that perhaps your own negative engagement in trying to oppose something might just be the “hey this is popular I should show more users content about” that radicalises another person who might support a group like the AfD. But then there’s the dilemma. What happens if you don’t push back? So now you’re trapped in this timeline. Consume that FOMO of not falling in to a fascist state popularised by messaging quite often encouraged by Russian internet troll farms.
How would the demonstrations affect the voters?
AfD voters are not giving a flying crap about protests? Absolutely shocking, how can that be? Who would have guessed?
Just a hint for the seemingly lost political elite: if you want to keep your well paying seat in the Bundestag or equivalent Parlament, sart doing real politics. Not some alibi decisions, but real politics that affects the people. Look at the AfD campaign, those are their voters problems or needs. Try to solve them, and the AfD support is suddenly behind you. It’s that simple.
Instead of protesting against AfD they should focus on fixing the reasons why AfD is gaining in popularity
Because, unfortunately, extremist right thrives from attention. A lot of repressed ultraconservatives who never or rarely even consider voting will get out of their basements out of spite.
I still can’t believe this kind of headline when I see it, I hope it’s some SEO tactics because i can’t believe someone this stupid would work at a newspaper company
Because there are a lot of people that crave for fascism who have a chaotic mind caused by social media giving anxiety-producing snippets all day. Usually pushed by the far right.
For some people this is mental torture and are willing to give up freedom in exhange for order.
The more far-right comes into play, expect more general anxiety in society there will be because that is what makes the far-right stronger.
Yeah well… You can only sweep problems under the rug for so long.
Bc these demonstrations are nothing but virtue signaling. It was a protest for progressive Germans to post and brag about on social media how “liberal and progressive and anti nazi” they are.
Meanwhile the government hasn’t made any concessions, admitted any failures, has a 17 bn € deficit from last year, our Chancellor made 53 bn € in tax money disappear, the Green Party hasn’t moved the needle when it came to climate change yet our cost of living went up by 25-50% within 2 years.
Hmmmmm, idk why people are voting out of protest *insert pikachu face*
And one major contributor why so many votes go towards far-right parties is bc there aren’t any actually proper leftist parties to vote for. I’d consider myself as a socialist/communist, but all parties on the left spectrum are retarded. Maybe I’ll vote for Wagenknecht if she manages her party up and running. Otherwise there’s only CDU and AFD left for me to vote.
I will continue voting for them until major issues aren’t solved or atleast started being discussed:)
Protests don’t address the reason why AfD is gaining support but rather focus on the end effect.
Just my guess.
Because repeat criminals don’t end up in jail, instead they get a tv show.
Well didn’t the usual suspects just raped a fourteen year old girl. I guess there’s your answer.
Umm because a few hundred thousand people protesting doesn’t make up the majority of a popular and growing vote
I don’t understand how demonstrations will lower far wright’s votes? Far right voters are just chilling home.
Holy paid Kremlin trolls Batman. This comment section has more ushankas then red square in January.
Both not representing each other?
Because they compare it with the 2021 elections. If they’d compare it to December 2023 it would be different. Such a misleadind headline but ofc r/europe screams “migration” because some people are so obsessed with this topic that they can’t think about something else.
Two very obvious reasons:
One, because the people who vote far-right and the people who go to demonstrations are different groups. It may shock some five-year-olds and journalists, but in a group of 100 people, you can have 5 christians AND 5 jews. Even at the same time! I know, amazing!!!
Two, because even if 100,000 people went on the streets, or 500,000 that’s still less than 1% of the eligable voters in Germany. It is not representative of actual voter behaviour.
