This morning at 6:45 I got a ticket from LESA for not parking in parallel in a MC spot. The problem is that there is ALWAYS one scooter there that is parked wrong and yesterday It was the only spot available, so I parked as the other bike was. When I took it at 7 the other bike was not there.

I think this parking ticket is just so silly and I would be more than glad to pay If I were parking in a double yellow line or whatever, but I feel like this is just money collection for whatever they can charge you. My questions is if somebody has any kind of advice contesting contraventions or any other helpful advice.

The scooter as it was https://ibb.co/hcHxfDZ

  1. Im sorry i have no advice except read up on the traffic rule book, I myself ride a scooter and have never parked like this only because its a pain to get out if other bikes or cars block me. Other then that i had no idea you could not – what i really want to say is, is this how they are meeting their quotas? I know whats wrong is wrong but surely there has to be of educating before a contravention is given.

  2. This is bs. Abroad, you can park a small scooter on the pavement as long as it doesn’t obstruct anything (zebra crossing, shop window, etc…) .. This leads to more people utilising their scooter and less parking issues.

  3. Afaik a motor cycle must be parked perpendicular to the kerb or at an angle up to 45 degrees, but never parallel. Technically, you and the other guy are not parked properly. Maybe a biker here can illuminate us.

  4. Writing them a really polite letter gets me out of fines 50% of the time…just explain the situation and be super polite about it

  5. God, what problems is this causing, could understand if normal parking space. Revenue gathering is all LESA is, if safety they would be ticketing people not indicating, not stopping at stop signs etc etc. That is too much hard work though.

  6. Happened to me on a GoTo bike recently, tried my best to contest it with GoTo as I’m not from Malta (from Ireland)

Had to just pay it unfortunately, lesson learned

  7. You must park at a 45 degree angle or wider from the curb. That’s around 0 degrees so gonna get fined for sure. Not sure why the law is that way though to be honest. I’m assuming as parking that way takes up the whole box.
