So they not being paying attention to Australia at all? They have had issues like this with wool for the last few years. Its humans fault as we bred them to have larger fleeces than they actually need to carry.
How about selling it as insulation instead of as wool. Just a thought
How can they get paid so little while wool clothes are now basically unaffordable. I struggled to find a woolen jacket for less than 500 pounds
And yet balls of wool are so expensive…
What are we doing?
What am I missing? Farmers should stop breeding the sheep if all they’re going to do is loose money and burn them.
Edit: jfc I’m an idiot, it’s in the first sentence. They’re burning the fleeces not the sheep.
>According to Nicola Noble, from the National Sheep Association, the “wool cheque” – money paid to farmers for their produce – would often cover the cost of a farm’s rent for a year.
“But that’s not the case anymore,” she said.
What century is she referring to?
For the last couple of decades farmers aim was for the wool value to be enough to cover the shearers wages. Granted that’s going to be a struggle right now.
So, the farmers burn it and get absolutely nothing instead. Great plan.
It’s been an issue for years. The cost of shearing is barely if at all covered by the money obtained for the fleeces which used to be used in the manufacture of insulation. Maybe regulation should be used to promote the use of genetic wool in the garment industry over imported wool. Maybe we should start making some of our own clothes as opposed to importing throw away crap manufactured in China
I feel like a lot of protesters aren’t putting enough thought into the actual protest itself.
They’re in the pub with their mates and complaining about the lack of sex in their marriages. Then one bright spark pipes up with “Right! You know what we’ll do! We’ll all cut our penises off! That’ll get their attention!”
Isn’t this what they do in crypto when they want to increase prices? A burn.
They need all farmers to get together, the farmers group, and limit how much wool they sell each year to keep profit up.
