Trump not knowing maps

  1. From the man who thinks Kansas City, MO is in Kansas. Not sure I’d trust that one with anything geopolitical.

  2. Since when Trump cares about facts and numbers? His statement should read as simply “I won’t protect any Nato country against Russia [shitty excuse]”.

This guy is a Russian asset in the sense: he’s not himself a conscious spy, but he has been manipulated and flattered for years by (real) Russian assets to bend his opinions towards pro-Russian opinions. As thousands of people, but this paid off way better than Russian intelligence expected. They just hit jackpot with 2016. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/29/trump-russia-asset-claims-former-kgb-spy-new-book

Now Europe has one year to make sure we can deter Russia by ourselves without the need of US deterrence. It’s probably already the case, Putin is not stupid, I hope he knows even without US involvement, European armies would overpower Russian one in the eventuality he steps in any EU country.

  3. Reality has no bearing on what Trump thinks (if he does actually) or says.

  4. Just to clarify : We know that Trump lies all the time and nothing he says is trustworthy, but it’s funny that he’s so dumb he didn’t see this map, otherwise he wouldn’t make such threat.

  5. Guessing Trump doesn’t actually *know* which member states aren’t paying up.

  6. Nah he is just saying that he will not protect germany from a russian naval invasion.
    /s

  7. Said the man notoriously known and often sued for not paying his bills.

  8. In the last episode of the ‘Electric Dreams’ main hero of the story finds out that everybody, instead of being shocked by the words of The Candidate “Kill All The Others”, discussing who those ‘others’ are, and how to find them out. That why it boggles my mind, that people actually checking percentage and so on. Y’all already supporting Trump’s narrative, you’re already a member of the show’s society, people. It is obvious that in first day of his presidency Trump will find out how not to help Baltic states if russia actually will attack. There is no ‘what’s’ and ‘ifs’. Trump should be condemned, period.

  9. Its okay, trump only do not know what “paying a bill” means.

  10. He is just saying what ears of his public wants to hear, nothing to do with logical thinking from this orange boy

  11. Obama said a similar thing. Trump is simply reiterating it. Obama pushed for “stingy” NATO countries to start spending 2% of their GDP. But it fell on deaf ears.

    Good cop/bad cop.

And yes I agree with what he is saying. We want a strong Europe, yes ? That does not come cheap.

Amazes me when I see the “poorer” European nations, primarily those on the “borders” of the EU, are the one’s who are footing the bill for it’s protection.

Trump is 100% correct in his assessment.

  12. So lets sum it up shall we…

    NATO: *exists*

Obligation to invest 2% of GDP to your military: *exists*

Whole western Europe: “Naah, not gonna fulfill our obligations, we need those money to build socialism and green deal, let those stupid yanks pay for our security”

Trump: “Pay as you are supposed to.”

    Whole western Europe: “LOL NOPE”

Trump: “Pay or we will not bother risking our lives for slackers who dont do their part”

Whole western europe: “WAAAAA TRUMP BAAAAAAAAD!”

I mean come on, I am ashamed we do not pay enough for our military and are basicaly on a military welfare paid by US taxpayers. Trump is right in this one. Countries endangered by russia pay like crazy but cheapskates like jerries and spaniards are ust laughing around…

  13. Meh, people here should understand that Trump is doing what politicians do: playing on emotions of his potential voters.

Look, it’s obvious that if Russia would invade Europe, Americans wouldn’t send 100.000 army here. Their economy isn’t doing well enough to support fighting Russia and China at the same time. But it would be foolish to think that the US would just leave countries which are in American zone of influence.

I don’t really like Trump, but he is kinda right. European states need to start working on their militaries, because America won’t save our ass. Not because they won’t want it, but because they won’t be able to.

  14. Trump’s words are a response to the German general who said he’ll only give NATO 35 000 soldiers and (quote) “I may be breaking the NATO rules, but at least I’m honest”. Trump got mad, carried away etc and meant “Alright Russia, launch missiles at Germany and we’ll see if your generals are so strong that they don’t need to be bothered by the NATO rules”. Everyone who’s interpreting his words in a different way for his political purposes is just dead wrong. If you sign an act, you’re obliged to fulfil your duties.

  15. USA has the biggest defence spend just because they can and the associated industry is like no other on this earth. Probably 90% of the aid US gave to Ukraine is old stock that will be refreshed with new orders. Everyone wins except Russia. 🤭

  16. The only thing keeping eastern NATO countries safe is the PROMISE that the US will come to their aid if attacked.

If there is any doubt that the US will intervene, Putin could seize this moment of weakness and the risk would grow exponentially.

Moreover, he doesn’t even need to invade anyone, just wait until there’s a loss of trust and an internal anti-NATO sentiment in Europe.

This is what Trump is doing. He’s not a dum-dum demanding more money, he’s degrading the trust and creating doubt.

  17. He is obviously talking about Germany.
Im pretty short that he can’t named more than 3-4 counties of Europe.

  18. That guy was a president of USA he know some secrets but he cant tell us just warn us.

He did it in the past and nobody listened and after Russia attack Ukraine we were unprepared.

I am not Trump supporter but if he tell “spend your money on defense” just do it, twice as much.

  19. I despise Trump but Western Europe really needs to pick up the slack too, he isn’t wrong about that. However the man presents even remotely reasonable points like a damn lunatic.

  20. And then you realize that map is not about payin sone nato fee, but the nato members’ military budget share.

  21. Eastern NATO states always put a lot in bc they know you cant trust Ruzzia

  22. Yes, Trump is a criminal, liar, cheat, wannabe dictator and useful idiot for Putin. He’s dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed near scissors, let alone the White House. The whole of Europe can agree on that.

But none of that changes the fact that all NATO countries are honour-, duty- and treaty-bound to spend 2% of their GDP on the alliance. What’s more, if the rest of us can’t count on the US after a Trump win later this year, then the need for all countries to pay their fair share (possibly more than 2% to make up the US shortfall) becomes even more urgent.

  23. Not only did he say that he would not “protect” NATO members who “don’t pay bill”, he added that he would encourage Russia to attack them.

  24. Trump and the actions of the naïve, emotionally immature elements within the MAGA movement are totally destroying American credibility.

It is ironic that neither Putin nor Trump are ever in full control of their bowels when they think about NATO.

Although to be fair, neither are in full control of their bowels period.

Ah, wait, cracked it. Both men behave like they are constantly on their period!

  25. The US dollar is the reserve currency of the world which allows then to conjure up trillions and and fight wars anywhere. They can’t go bankrupt yet!

  26. How the tables have turned. When I was a kid I learned in school that there were sanctions against Germany to prevent us to go full “It’s Anschluss-time” again and now we are the baddies for not spending enough GDP on the military? Crazy.

Fun fact: There are still laws that prevent Germany from spending more GDP on military budgets. The military can’t cooperate with any regular University or public funded research facility. Those 1,57% GDP are without any R&D that could be “dual use”. Germany could get to that 2% mark by just changing some laws and a different accounting approach. I prefer the old way and think civil and military budgets should remain separated, but if the world wants us to merge the Bundeswehr back into our civil state…. here we go… we have lots of practice doing so.

But don’t complain afterwards when the next generation of German EU politicians have military background and the next “Ursula von der Leyen” is some German Ex-General. Ursula was our Minister of Defense after all, personalty I don’t want to go further down that road.
