Tech layoffs are hitting companies that are doing just fine

  1. My work posted huge profits and still cut back the tiny “bonus” we get because of high expenses lol.

  2. We had a big meeting about how we can’t rase prices anymore, therefore we are expected to find ways to cut costs. Also, for some reason productivity dropped after everyone was forced back in the office. That’s obvs employees slacking and we need to fix it. Also executive pay and bonuses are going up this year because we made so much money and we need to reward those super smart executives that keep the company running.

All of that, in the same meeting. Management doesn’t see the issue.

  3. Like the stock market doesn’t equal the economy, jobs in tech do not represent jobs in US.

  4. Layoffs are the new stock buybacks. The markets love ‘em. Never forget that at a large company you’re just a number on a piece of paper.
