I’ve never seen these doors close – paper on the door is a re-possession order. Bailiffs inside securing the door.

  1. Wow. That’s a hell of a shock. This place is an institution and certainly always -seemed- busy.

If even they can survive then the economy is fucked

  2. Damn. Used to get bagels and soup from there after playing board games in the basement of BrewDog. Sad times. Was always busy inside. And always beggars outside!

  3. This isn’t true. They’re closed due to an electrical fault. Check their insta beigel_shop

  4. Bailiffs securing a couple hundred beef and salmon bagels to clear the debt.

  5. They’re closed to conduct essential maintenance works according to their instagram account

  6. Well, at least this will stop the arguments about which one is the best one.

  7. IMPORTANT: The sign in the shop window is the same as on Instagram saying it’s closed for essential electrical maintenance, no repossession order.

  8. No shop can survive with the fucking rates they’re being charged

  9. Great now I’ll have to go stand in the queue with all the tourists at the other one

  10. I’m always too drunk to remember which one is the good one!!

  11. Somebody needs to change the sign to say ‘but definitely not the last’

  12. Everyone arguing about which is better. I lived on Brick Lane for a year, and tried them both out many many times as a hungry person just finishing work. There is no discernible difference.

The bacon and cheese is actually better at this one and because they offer lemon and pepper for the salmon. The salt beef is the same. The only big marketing difference is the sign and the queue, and the fact that the other one is closer to Shoreditch station, so people meet the other one first. People also tend to go to the busier one (human psychology) because humans are dumb and follow the crowd.

To reinvent the business, if the owner is reading this, you need to make your sign memorable with an iconic logo/icon and have a sign up at the top of brick lane with this logo/icon, and change your store front to have the same sign/icon, and give out stickers of this icon with every bagel. Within 2 weeks you’ll have your logo all over brick lane. Additionally, improve the hygiene, get your chefs wearing masks, put out hand sanitizer, put ip “5 star hygiene rating” signs, always was bit dirty/sweaty when I went in form the ovens heat, but the hunger sometimes won. If you can do this, you’ll get wayyy more customers

  13. They charged extra for a pickle in the salt beef beigal. Its an essential part so why come the extra charge?

Shaloms in Gants hill has been far superior for about 30 years now.

  14. Since when have bailiffs needed extension cords, power tools and lumber?

  15. Horrific Beigel Shop slander going on in this thread. Hang your heads in shame.

  16. There’s only one Bagel shop on Brick Lane and that’s not the one 😎😉

  17. Relax it’s not the one that actually has people queuing outdoor. I’m not surprised they closed as people were standing outside this shop to queue to get in the other (better) one.

  18. Maybe because the spelt bagel wrong? No one can find it / take it seriously?
