What is this new logo? What was wrong with a dead lion with flies buzzing around it?

  1. It’s a dead lion with bees flying around it. It’s a reference to the story of Samson in the book of judges where he gives a riddle to his wedding guests. The answer to which is a dead lion that bees had turned into a hive. Why did lyle and sons choose it? No idea

  2. Presumably, given that there is a bee in the top right of the new logo, that’s also a dead lion’s face

  3. I’ll be honest, I saw the new logo in Lidl and thought it was their own knockoff golden syrup.

Current design trends are going for a sterile look that’s flat with no outlines. They all look vector drawn rather than by hand.

  4. I prefer the new one. They managed to update it but still give it an old fashioned feel.

  5. Somebody somewhere was offended.. so let’s change in case they have a 😱 attack

  6. They managed to make the lion look like Peter Wyngarde in Department S (google required possibly (probably))

  7. I *think* this is just for the pouring syrup, as opposed to the tins. The Lyle’s packaging is possibly the world’s oldest in continuous use, having [not changed significantly](https://www.lylesgoldensyrup.com/our-story/) since 1885, so it would be a shame if they altered it.

  8. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👌🏻 always wondered why they had a dead Lion with flies buzzing around it as a logo.

Definitely need to bring it back. This face looks like the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz who got his courage and a new doo.

  9. I like the new one but I have zero attachment to the old one so that’s probably easy for me to say.

  10. Was torn on toppings today and would probably have gone golden syrup if they hadn’t fucked with it

  11. 😄 is it the crazy director bitch lady who try to ruin all Howlkard ( Poudlard ) in Harry Potter ?!

I love that syrop anyway ! Thank you U.K

  12. The original was a bible reference can’t have that today…

  13. I’ll have to buy a large tin of the proper stuff while I can. Porridge, which I rarely eat, isn’t the same without it. A big tin last me till I die.

  14. It’s where Samson killed the lion with his bare hands , bees nest in its guts ,
Out of the strong came forth sweetness
