My mother has been on the phone to him asking for help when she was being made homeless. He shrugged her off and told her about how Housing For All is making progress.
Nothing will ever change in this country.

What a complete and utter scumbag.
Once again, there is too much crossover between those that control our housing policies and the private housing market. Our housing crisis is by design and Fine Gael are the ones leading us further and further down the absolute hole that is the private housing market.
“The Party Of Law And Order” is back at it again.
Ahh I get it now.
This must be one of those fantastic councillors FG have waiting in the wings to take the place of all those TDs that quit that Leo was talking about.
Phwoar, with a bench this deep if I was the opposition I’d be bricking it.
They don’t even pretend to care. The motto is always “let’s all get as rich as possible, feck the country” and you vote for them if you agree.
Want lower taxes at the expense of housing, healthcare and schools? Vote FG. It’s that simple and they don’t even try to pretend.
Why would they care that rents are higher when they know no one who rents. Tally ho When your kids go to college you simply buy them a house to share with their friends. Hurrah
This is why I have zero confidence in FG to fix the housing crisis. This issue is the low hanging fruit of the housing crisis. It is just simple enforcement of existing legislation. And it is one of the easiest crimes to identify. Zero investigation required. I could do it from my bed with an Ipad.
Step 1: Download airBNB app
Step 2: Search map for available property
Step 3: Open planning map to see if there was an approved short term let use application on same property
Step 4: If not book the room for a night. Save receipts.
Boom, all the evidence you need for prosecution and a bonus weekend trip away.
Penalties for planning offenses can be severe. Make an example of a few of these scumbag criminals and the rest will fall in line fairly quickly.
FG are quick to crackdown on things like social welfare fraud. The problem here is these criminals are prime FG voter base.
I don’t give a shit about planning laws but great investigation from the ditch. Can’t wait to know about every single TD that pirated a movie or went 52 in a 50. Cracking journalism.
That’s a bit illegal isn’t it?
If FG/FF actually cared they could sort this out very easily.
This is very low hanging fruit.
A few hours in front of a computer would have dozens of cases and then bring them to court for planning offences.
