Jude lighting up that farmer’s league is more eye popping. Kane could even squeeze into the conversation since he’s lighting up the ultimate farmer’s league.
If City win the PL/CL double and Foden has a good CL finals, and England win the Euros… he’d have a good shout. That award seems to hate players in England, I think Ronaldo was the last PL player to win one? like 15 years ago or something like that.

In thinking about this, I’m still a bit sad for Erling – he had 1 of the best debut seasons ever, breaking tons & tons of records and being key part of a team winning historic Treble –
But had the bad luck to be up against Messi’s 1st World Cup for Ballon d’Or, and the really really bad luck of people on FIFA Best Panel & voters not giving a hoot about the award dates for FIFA Best being 19 Dec 2022 – 20 Aug 2023.
Quite a few people even here have said Elring isn’t a great footballer, he didn’t score in SF or F of CL/FA Cup, he isn’t even best on his own team so of course he didn’t win.
All of those things might be true and yet he had an incredible season & I’m really hard pressed to see what more he could have done. Even if Erling had scored the winning CL goal, I don’t think it would have mattered – Messi still gets both those awards.
Now Erling at a disadvantage v other contenders bc they have Euros or Copa America.
Good thing Erling legit seems to care a LOT more about the team trophies & sure he is very very happy!
