Alicia Keys’ Super Bowl flub already erased from YouTube

  1. This is normal no? The article is trying to frame it as not knowing what to trust online when we’re far past that. You shouldn’t take anything in as truth from the internet.

  2. Why call this a flub? She has vocal cords, they didn’t respond as she expected. Maybe she has a cold, or some other unforeseen ephemeral situation. I found the overall performance by both entertainers to be refreshingly authentic wrt actual singing and performing.

Calling this a flub is exactly why the moment was edited.

  3. Didn’t notice a ‘flub’ I thought she was good

  4. Imagine a human not being perfect! Just keep the original it was great.

  5. I heard this immediately when it happened, but playing it back now, it sounded worse than I remembered. That being said, I still think they should have left it in. My band did a reunion show a while back, and we recorded it, but there’s flubs and oopses in there for sure. Hell, I sang half of the wrong verse on one song.

  6. That was the best part of her performance and they erased it? Imperfections are why I prefer live versions/music.

  7. I thought she did fine. Singing is hard, especially in that context with potentially more people watching her in that moment than ever. She wasn’t perfect but who is? Her moment and Ludacris/Little John were my favorites of the whole show.

  8. [Alicia Keys voice crack.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91KflT-hUtE) It was a brief but piercing voice crack, and Keys recovered nicely.

On one hand, it’s not a big flub. Shit like this happens all time in live performance, especially one of the biggest broadcast events in the US, if not the world, which involves a level of stress that most of us will never know. They could have just left it in the Youtube version and nobody would have cared (nobody except for those who decided to edit it, anyway).

On the other hand, the edit is nothing to be outraged over, either.

Either way, this is no big deal.

  9. I heard it during the show and thought it’s refreshing to know that this vocal artist is a human being, and this performance is now unique because she missed a note. I enjoyed it because of the imperfection.

    Now sterilized.

  10. “Still, it’s not a clear-cut act of censorship..”
WTF- they edited her pitch AV club. It probably wasn’t necessary, but that is most definitely not a clear cut act of censorship.
