Absolutely no raisin for bringing it up, I’ve just never forgotten it and want people to know.
Fun fact. They leave the factory half cooked and finish “cooking” on their journey to the shops.

Toasted is much better. Anyone who disagrees is an outright heretic and should be confronted with the traditional “mob armed with pitchforks and flaming torches”.

If you’re ever in Northern Ireland, treat yourself to toasted Veda slathered in Kerrygold butter.
Veda is a malt loaf as well but doesn’t have the fruit that Soreen does.

Would highly recommend microwaving (around 15 seconds for two peices). Makes it lovely and squidgy, and then add chosen spread (M&S salted caramel crunch / Lotus Biscoff spread / Butter) to finish. Amazing.

Ill never forget the time we had to go from Dover to somewhere in Sussex to pick the boat up. It had gone in for minor repairs.
When we arrived, the boat was inside on trestles and they had finished working on her and she was gleaming from bow to stern. When we climbed up onto the stern deck, we immediately notice one of the workers had stepped in dog shit and tramped it inside. We pointed this out and the worker was shocked and apologetic and followed the trail of shitty footprints inside.
There, between the comms seat and the cox’s seat was a rather large, disgusting looking turd.
Cue all the eews/ughs etc.
Then the workman went over and picked it up in his hand to a chorus from the onlookers of ‘Ugh, you dirty bastard’!
He then brought it up to his nose and sniffed it, declaring it was in fact Labrador shit.
THEN the dirty fucker broke it in half and popped a chunk of it in his mouth and said, ‘ Yeah, def Labrador’
Honest to God, it made me feel as queasy as fuck…..right up until he told us it was maltloaf!!

I’ve always preferred it toasted until its near burnt on the outside then cover it in good quality butter . After you’ve tried it you won’t go back

I think we used to have it toasted when I was kid, but I’d totally forgotten about that until now! Life’s too short to toast it, just slice it and spread some butter on it nom nom nom
