If only the government could do something about demand for hotels… I don’t know… To reduce the intake of applicants?
Did we knock down all the nightclubs in Dublin to build all these additional hotels instead of homes because we knew we’d be accepting all these immigrants?
Death knell for tourism in the town, its the second in the town to do this.
Probably racist of me to say that I’d rather people didn’t lose their jobs when the shops, cafés and restaurants close.
May as well stick a massive “burn me down” sign on it.
You’d wonder how long it is before some hotel owner that’s having a hard time spreads a rumor about their own place to get the insurance money.
500 x 90 euro per person/night….. Can the government not get someone with a brain to negotiate these contracts?
No consultation at all with the local officials or the public on it. The government have botched this entire thing. I’d be so pissed if I lived there, or worse owned a business nearby.
This is going to cause problems. Drogheda is already at breaking point and the exact demographic who will be prone to far right propaganda working. This is pouring gas onto a fire.

These pricks have not taken bookings for the last few weeks claiming an “IT error” , cunts of the highest order
500 More doctors and engineers
Ah yes, the Green run ministry in charge of integration, the only party who’s supporters wanted more immigration.
This adds an additional 500 dependents to the town, causes the direct loss of dozens of jobs and However many indirect.
Lets also remember statistically, according to the Justice Minster the Majority of these will be rejected applications. Not that they’ll be deported.
Drogheda is the biggest town in Ireland and that’s arguably the only decent sized hotel in the place. Doesn’t seem right to have it taken away. A town of that size should have that kind of facility.
Im not against immigration but if we’ve to put them up in hotels we don’t have the room end of.
This is so crazy to see hotels and shelters being filled but Irish people are struggling to find homes and the number of homelessness is growing.
Tomorrow’s headline; Louth hotel set on fire.
So did the government have the money to accommodate and end homelessness in Ireland this whole time and chose to ignore it? This question isn’t in relation to the accommodation of IPAs but rather why and how the government are getting the money to do this now but not before?
Death to our economy once the corporate business leaves Ireland will be fucked.
500… how many people live in Louth 😭😭😂
Unless we do something now we are going to have all the same problems as the UK in 5 years
International obligations to house IPAS for free , but no obligation to house local students …sounds sus
This is an absolute disgrace. Sending all those poor bastards to Drogheda. Surely they’ve been through enough already.
If the intention was to house immigrants here, why didn’t the government just buy it when it was bought last year? The corruption is immense.
It’s almost sport watching so-called far talking points slowly – very slowly – hitting home. At least for some.
I mean, they’ve been telling us for years that ‘demography is destiny.’ They’ve been saying they’ll need to increase the population exponentially. All the while being seemingly obsessed with ‘de-growth’ and carbon emissions. Strange that. This is just the start of it. Buckle up.

In other news a Louth hotel accidently goes on fire …..
It’s just utter madness we dont have the room, we have the money, we don’t have the unfastructure plus its tax payers will pay more.. plus 50% never intergrate into society.. look a Denmark over last 10 years.. serious problems
When did we rename asylum seekers?
Bye, bye hotel
I’m sure Drogheda will be happy with 500 going in. I‘d love to know when this obligation ends
Looking forward to when the fancy 5 star hotels are all that’s left and the government stick these Algerian, Albanian & Georgian lads into The Shelbourne & The Conrad and the like. Can’t be far off at the rate they are going.
3 hotels and an office block (that was refused pp for conversion to apartments pre asylum madness) are now housing these lads in my area. No more UK tourists for weekend breaks, no buses of German and Asian tourists in the summer, just lads hanging around all day drinking cans. Great stuff for the local offo, but not for anyone else!
I’m no conspiracy theorist, but this is crazy shit that’s going on.
Filling these hotels with refugees has a serious knock on affect with Irish tourism and local businesses.
Insurance company will be sweating the fire cover on that building 😅
So if the hotel was operating normally before, then they don’t need as many staff now.
Disastrous for the local economy.
How much have we invested in tourism up until this point only to fill the hotels and destroy the industry. What a shut show
Build and they will come… Only an absolute lemon would think you can just stem the flow by continuously providing accommodation. The only thing that will stop economic migrants coming is a system they can’t just bypass into the open world. Detain at the airport in a facility, process the application and back on a plane and for anyone who tries to say they won’t comply with a deportation order, they certainly will when the alternative is indefinite incarnation.. there aren’t many Enoch Burke’s willing to stay locked up indefinitely.
Make those changes and id guarantee the numbers fall off a cliff.

That looks way too nice to be set on fire.
