Either they’re lying about the planned maintenance and it’s a face-saving farce to suggest the impact isn’t that bad, or they’re lying about the attack and the accident was the result of negligence.
I find it hard to believe they had significant maintenance necessary and the attack just happened to occur in the same vicinity such that the restrictions of gas to the surrounding towns was already planned. It’s much more likely that they were negligent, knew maintenance was necessary, but didn’t do it and when it literally blew up in their face they cried wolf suggesting sabotage to the great regime.
How unfortunate. It would be even LESS fortunate of the Iranian leader, that dude with the wacky beard were to fall off a balcony.
