The guy seems to signal that is surrender, maybe it was better to take him as a pow and present the clip with him being captured alive so other can do the same.

There you get hit and die a slow painful death in a ditch.

I hate to admit it but I think UA is in the wrong for this one. He’s unarmed and actively trying to signal surrender. He runs and dives for cover at 00:09 in my opinion because the drone actively moves towards him. I think in the same situation I would have assumed the drone was charging also. This video will only serve to bolster ruzzia propaganda.

FPVs cannot save you. Only the spotter drones. And only if the operator is in a good mood that day.

No its not a war crime, you can’t surrender to a drone just like you can’t surrender to artillery or a strategic bomber flying overhead.
Realities of war and all, but… this is not a good look. I’ve often wondered what would happen if you tried to surrender to an FPV drone – guess now I know…
If the FPV drone operator was not in contact with the spotter drone, then the considerations about not being able to lead a pow back to friendly lines would apply… but surely the spotter operators tell the FPV operators where the targets are? So they could have handed over to the spotter drone…

I would have flown the FPV drone to another target nearby and then drop him instructions on where and how to surrender.
I can’t tell if the drone operator was hesitating to hit him or simply toying with him.

This russian guy in the link did, this is a very popular video, the ukrainians sent another drone to drop him instructions on where to run to surrender, and he did so knowing his comrades would try to kill him, he ran for over a kilometer under russian shelling and fortunately go to the ukrainian position in one piece.
