  1. Donald Trump’s first criminal trial is officially on the books—and it starts before the election.

  2. *”Trump’s legal team tried to protest the decision to go to trial, citing the legal load attached to so many disparate criminal trials for one individual.”*

It’s not the American Judiciary system’s fault Trump has committed so many crimes.

  3. You know, were I charged with a crime I knew I didn’t commit, I’d want my trial to happen as soon as possible to get it behind me.

I wonder why Trump keeps delaying?

  4. Let’s see him act like he’s been acting in civil trials when he’s in a criminal proceeding. That’ll go really well.

  5. I thought this was an old story, or just something with no meat on it, but no. This is the underlying crime of the Stormy Daniels hush money that has been building for years. 03/25 the trial officially starts. It’s a couple weeks late for my birthday present, but I’ll take it.

  6. “Merchan, who has acknowledged a $15 donation to President Joe Biden”

he might have offered a bunch of coffees to some nice Democrat volunteers. does this really mean that he endorses Biden and that he hates Trump?

  7. To answer the question we are all thinking: Up to four years of jail time, but there is no mandatory minimum.

  8. Of all the cases, this is the most open and shut and it’s in a venue least likely to put up with his bullshit.

  9. ***“We—meaning myself, the firm and President Trump—have been put into an impossible position.”***

Maybe if your client wasn’t such a dedicated life-long criminal you wouldn’t have so many differing trials to contend with?

    Just a thought

  10. So the main crux of Trump’s argument is he should not have to go to trial because he’s swamped with the legal issues he’s facing in so many other trials. Sounds like a sound defense and reason to grant a delay.

  11. His argument is literally that he has so many trials and charges that it’s getting difficult to keep up. It’s a bold move, Cotton. Too bad it didn’t pay off.

  12. If you don’t want to go to trial stop doing so many crimes.

  13. Fuck Trump, lock up that criminal, good that at least one judge grew a pair.

  14. Justice delayd is justice denied.

If anyone had questions about the meaning or accuracy of this old saying.

  15. “Trump’s legal team tried to protest the decision to go to trial, citing the legal load attached to so many disparate criminal trials for one individual.”

A line from the movie *Liar, Liar*, comes to mind. Also, it’s not written as *one individual* in the docket, it’s written as “Individual One.”

  16. The true crime was that the motivation for the hush payments was to hide the scandal from the 2016 voters. Election Interference!

  17. Keep in mind that his former attorney/fixer spent time in prison for this exact scheme, while he was just “Individual 1” who the crimes Cohen was found guilty of committed the crimes for and at the behest of.

  18. So, Trump’s lawyers were trying to delay trial dates by using his other trials that are also pending trial dates… perpetually. Just going before each judge with, “please delay this trial because of the other ones.”

And somehow this worked for a while.

  19. If you can’t run because of the stupid shit you’ve done….maybe, just maybe…you’re not qualified. BAM!

  20. For those tracking this at home, innocent people don’t want to delay their trials. They want to clear their name. If he really wanted this behind him he would be using everything at his disposal to prove his innocence.

Why are these simple facts so difficult for MethAGA’s and the press to grasp and face?

  21. They need to start passing out back bones again. Glad someone finally said no!

  22. Fantastic.

First criminal conviction, coming circa May 10th.

Get the striped jumpsuit ready boys!

    Can’t wait!!!

    Right Repubs?

  23. I don’t like that this case – the weakest – is going first. It’ll make a possible second conviction in DC seem less important
