Rishi Sunak walks out of interview when asked if Boris Johnson should resign

  1. I think there should be some questions about what Sunak knows and what he was doing at this time. They live in practically the same building (isn’t his flat actually in Number 10 and Boris in 11?) and I think they share the garden

Everyones pretty much ignored those facts. So far, keeping his head down has worked. I don’t think it’s just potentially running for the leadership, I think he knows more (or is involved more) than what he’s letting on.

    Video here on twitter: https://mobile.twitter.com/joepike/status/1483409013136150533?s=21

  2. He did clarify his position though in that he thinks Johnson should resign if caught lying to the house by clearly pointing to the ministerial code.

    Savvy move Rishi!

  3. I hate that awkward moment when you storm out of a room, and then have to sheepishly come back in because you’ve forgotten your red bag. Hate it.

  4. He’s mastered the bullshit and given a sterling endorsement/obituary of support for the dead man walking.

…. Just needs his staff to ensure, nextime, there’s a freezer he can hide in when he exits stage left.

    ….. Our future leader.

  5. I’ve watched the video and it’s a bit more of a David Cameron walk out when they just sort of pretend like it’s over and leaves. Still, he didn’t support the PM, so thats… good?

  6. The long overdue civil war within the tories will be spectacular to watch. All of the candidates for the role of PM are embroiled in the shitshow inside No10. Every single sitting Conservative MP has insulted the public by supporting the liar no matter what he says or does.

Sunak is a hardline capitalist who’s been having secret meetings with private healthcare corporations in the US and refuses to be drawn on the subject.

They’re shit the lot of them.

  7. He didn’t walk out when asked the question. He was already standing up to end the interview.

They create enough problems for themselves. We don’t need to make stuff up. Doing stuff like this gives them ammo to brush actual stories off as fabrication.

  8. This is how the media is complicit in helping the Tories to load everything on to Johnson so that when he finally resigns (or more likely, enough MPs send letters of no confidence to the 1922 committee), they will claim “new leader, new mandate” but it will be bullshit.

They should have been asking Sunak why he forgave over £4 billion of PPE payments made that were fraudulent, instead of recovering them.

  9. holy shit… are these guys like 9? if i ignore the question they will eventually stop asking…. i’m gonna play outside now with my switch

  10. Sunak is not stupid enough to answer that question truthfully anyway. If he says yes then he risks losing his job as Chancellor (like Javid did when he refused to back Johnson). If he says no then Sunak gets dragged into the mud with Johnson and that could affect his chances at the leadership bid. That leaves him with a very unconvincing non-answer that would satisfy no one and just invite the question again. Larry the cat will tell us more than Sunak will.

  11. That was the right move from Sunak. He wouldn’t have benefitted answering that question positively or negatively.

You can say it looks cowardly etc, but often the best response in politics is no response. He would have lost out by answering, and loses nothing with his voting base by not.
