You don’t get the rolling sound when it’s in a packet. That sound is almost as delicious as the Malteasers themselves.
This is going to be the most stupid comment I ever make on Reddit.
But.
The maltesers from a box taste _warmer_
By like single centigrade they taste warmer!
The Maltesers in a box are free range; they get to roll around, whereas those in a bag are factory…
And y do I feel like I’ve only had 4 but when I look the big box of them has 5 left
The box is somewhat porous, so it absorbs additional moisture. The plastic packet holds additional moisture in from the sealing process. I’d also argue that plastic conducts more of the ambient temperature which also influences the taste and texture.
I tell myself that it’s all to do with the greater oxygen flow around the chocolate inside the box compared to the bag….but really my pig brain tells me I’ll get more, because it’s in a BOX (no idea if the weight is equivalent or not!) and BOXES of chocolate are just…more luxurious! 😆
