The Italian Navy was by far a greater threat than Germany’s.
At one point (early 41) the British deployed more carriers (and overall forces) in the Mediterranean fleet than they allocated to the Home fleet.
While the U-bot threat was quite significant, it targeted exclusively cargo ships and never posed a real threat to the British Navy in regards to naval superiority.
Point being, if the Italian Navy hypothetically sailed out it’s entire Battle Fleet it would have been a much greater probelm to deal with compared to a hypothetical complete German Battle Fleet.
And that’s it, thats basically the only good thing Italy achieved during its partecipation of the war. Yes I’m a ship nerd, yes I’m biased and yes I cope and seethe when thinking about the Greek offensive.

I thought the German army liked the horse and cart since it never bothered to motorize itself sufficiently.
