  1. Commander Sirskyi: Based on the operational environment that has occurred around Avdiivka, in order to avoid the environment and save the lives and health of soldiers, the decision was made to withdraw our units from the city and move to defense on more favorable borders.

    Our soldiers fulfilled their military duty duly, did their best to destroy the best Russian military units, inflicted significant losses in manpower and equipment to the enemy.

    We use measures to stabilize the situation and maintain occupied positions.

    The life of military is the highest value.

    We will return the Avdiivka anyway.

  5. You fought long and hard boys, get the hell out of that graveyard. I’m proud of Ukraine and its amazing soldiers, 400,000 russians will never fight again, 10000 probably lay at avdiivka. How russians can accept being thrown into a world where 1/10 of them lives through the year is beyond me.

  10. It’s sad but we knew it was coming. Making Putin pay dearly for every inch of territory is the key now. Beating Russia in a war of attrition seems to be a hopeless gamble but then, once upon a time Ukraine was going to lose Kyiv in a matter of days and look where we are. Russia’s economy is fragile enough and their army clumsy enough that, well, we’ve seen Ukraine achieve miracles before. Maybe they can do it again.

  12. Its sad, but its better than hearing them becoming encircled and trapped. Hopefully, they can get out without casualties.

  13. Should have done it last week. Now they’re almost certainly have to abandon all their heavy equipment, weapons and whatever stockpile of munitions they have in the city. Since the Russians have advanced so close to the roads the soldiers leaving will be under constant fire out in the open and that’s not even including Russian artillery and FPV drones.

  16. That is the right decision and I’m glad the call was made. I was waiting to hear this and not orders to stay and hold so this is a relief but I’m still praying for all those wounded it’s been a blood bath from what I understand

  21. This is sad but understandable, the orcs are just way too many. I hope they can regroup and get armed to the teeth then throw a powerful and massive counter-attack.

  23. Too late, this situation could have been avoided, soldiers retreating have been killed or captured, while evacuation has been carried Russian artillery wiped out the area.. the same shitty mistake like bakhmut.
