3. I remember a video of him at the 2022 conference a few days before the full-scale invasion. He was asked about the huge russian military buildup near Ukraine’s borders with russia. I was equally struck by the resolve and helplessness in his response. Essentially, he said, what could Ukraine do apart from rallying international support and carrying on with life? Ukrainians could not stop living their lives just because the russians decided to put their tanks and troops near the border.

   Two years on, the Ukrainians have not stopped living their lives despite the russians having done much worse than just tanks and troops at the border. They have fought valiantly and carried on with their lives, but has the international community given them the support they rallied for and deserve?
