Hello folks. I am sure there are all differing views about Migration which everyone is entitled to.

If anyone was interested, I just wanted to raise awareness of a public protest on 22nd Feb at 5pm, City Hall against the Safety of Rwanda Bill. Anyone is welcome to attend.

If you’re sick and tired of reading about this: this is just a reminder that this Government – on its last legs, and having never raised it in a manifesto – intends to remove genuine refugees to a dictatorship.

This is a dictatorship which gunned down refugees in 2018. It has no functioning asylum system. It has removed refugees to places like Yemen, Afghanistan and Syria without considering their claims. The Rwandan government previously ignored its commitments to a similar deal with Israel and secretly removed refugees. For those reasons and more, the UKSC considered the entire policy unlawful.

The Safety of Rwanda Bill is one of the biggest assaults on human rights in modern times. It removes basic rights to genuine refugees, and you can bet that the next time the Tories perceive a crisis – you and I could be next. You only need to look at the Legacy Act for proof that they are happy to strip away the rights of entire communities for political gain.

Everyone has their own views about immigration, which is entirely right. But refugees, like
you and I, are entitled to basic human rights. Please consider attending this to show your opposition to the Bill.

  2. What is your alternative to the Rwanda Bill? I’m not saying I support it but it is clear the country is at breaking point.

    For having such a strong opinion on this you must have a really good alternative solution?

My solution would be to take anyone who lands on our shores and replace them 1 for 1 for women and children in the Syrian camps we are funding to the tune of millions a year, first positive is we take the undeniably more vulnerable and also with the deterrent effect of men choosing not to leave France if they know they will be not only steps backwards but back across the med. This wouldn’t cost as much as rewanda no international body could say we aren’t humanitarian, we would be the most humanitarian helping the most vulnerable and we would stop the boats.

  11. Fair play for promoting this. It’s worrying to see the increase in conservative mentality of “fuck everyone else, I got mine”.
