Awful news and it’s not going to get better any soon!
We need to do everything we can to accelerate the energy transition, from faster rollout of renewables to increased focus on decarbonising technologies. Above all else, we desperately need a greater amount of development and funding for CCS! Renewables are growing at unprecedented rates but the crucial CCS technologies are lagging behind.
I know some people on this subreddit don’t like the idea of CCS, but we literally cannot get close to net zero and controlling climate change without it (see anything the literature has to say, or simply the IPCC reports, like the WG6 report). We need it now more than ever!
