SNP Gaza ceasefire motion looks ‘perfectly reasonable’, Anas Sarwar says

  1. Give it 5 minutes. His bosses will be along to say he’s completely in the wrong and it’s needs massive alterations.

  2. Well surely Michael Shanks MP and Ian Murray MP, two Scottish Labour MPs under Scottish Labour Leader Anas Sarwar, will vote for said ceasefire motion then?

If Scottish Labour is indeed its own party standing up for Scotland.

  3. Both Hamas and Israel have offered ceasefires that are so unreasonable that they were clearly just ruses to pretend they want a ceasefire

So what can we possibly put in a motion? Are we supposed to support one or other unreasonable proposal that was never made in good faith anyway? Of does it have some detailed and reasonable proposed ceasefire that we are supposed to somehow get both sides to agree to?

What is this immediate ceasefire that we are supposed to be supporting? Is it the Hamas proposal – the Israeli proposal or something entirely imaginary?

  4. To what end though? I wish they’d stop killing each other but literally neither side will hear about an Snp motion nevermind care.

  5. I am I the only one totally fed up with pointless gesture politics. SNP, labour whoever can make a statement saying they want a ceasefire and have exactly the same impact as a vote without wasting government time. Do people think Hamas or Israel is going to say ” oh well now they have had a vote we better stop this now, before it was just statements but this is serious”.

It’s nothing more than weak politicians totally out of their depth pretending to matter and maybe get a vote or two out of it.
