  1. hot take: norway is a prank, invented just to see if we will believe a real place could be so ridiculous

  2. Ronny Wiltersen sounds like the name of a random 2m tall centre back playing for Copenhagen

  3. Dumbledore is apparently Dorset inbred dialect for bumblebee. Never actually heard someone use it, though I steer clear of rural Dorset… Vile place of natural beauty.

  4. Yk, I thought this could be semi-normal up until I saw dumbledore.

  5. Remus Lupus is an explicit spoiler, c’mon. Lupin is a character name at least and leaves some space for the doubt.

  6. Remus Lupus feels like a spell you would cast to give Lupus disease to your ennemy

  7. Lmao you all are children playing in the mud while we (norwegians) stand and watch.

  8. Is this a common thing? The Spanish names were kept the same as the original

  9. According to Coldmirror, a german Youtuber, Quidditch in Norway is called rumpeldunk. And roughly translated to Swedish it apparently means assfuck. Can some nordic confirm this?

  10. This is what they are in Italian:

    Albus Dumbledore: Albus Silente

    Severus Snape: Severus Piton

    Neville Longbottom: Neville Paciock

    Minerva McGonagall: Minerva McGranitt

    Peter Pettigrew: Peter Minus

    Argus Filch: Argus Gazza

    Gilderoy Lockhart: Gilderoy Allock

Edit: oh and Hermione is pronounced Er-mee-oh-na

  11. You should look up the names for the Dutch version, Harry Potter made it so I would never ever watch a movie in my language dubbed or subbed.

  12. The names reminde me of a friend of mine. His name is Biggus Dickkus

  13. >Sirious Svaart

Usually requires a shower and a change of clothing

  14. Imagine “translating” character names from books/movies/games.

With the exception of Hermione, all these other names were kept as they are in the German version.

  17. In German it is mostly similar. Hermione is called Hermine (Her-me-neh (like the ‘e’ in r without the r).

There’s like one sentence in the philosophers stone in which they call Sirius Black “Schwarz” (which translates to black), I think. Otherwise he’s called Black.

Some of the names were hard to translate for me, friends and family. Fudge was called “Fu-geh” or Dumbledore was Dumb-le-do-re. That was fun. “I hate Fu-geh”, “yeah, I was happy when he got replaced by Fudge”, “??!”.

  18. Oh ye gods, you don’t wanna know what they cooked up here. It’s atrocious.

  19. Madam Pomfrey is called “Pussi Pomfrit” in Norwegian i heard

  20. Je pense que la maison Serdaigle de Poudlard est le moins stupide.
