  1. Uh oh, they need to go back to Socialist policies ASAP because those worked so much better.

Its important to note that 100% of State Ran Authoritarian economic systems always collapse and go through a period of high inflation as the subsidized “staples” go away, and that would mainly be petrol and wheat, or rice products. Most Authoritarian systems heavily subsidize the basics and steal the rest, leaving everyone limping along. Remember, a FULL HALF of Argentinians receive a paycheck from the State and don’t work. In the USA and Japan, we call that “Limp Mode”.

  2. In September 2023 Agustín Salvia, director of the Social Debt Observatory of the Argentine Catholic University said “the incoming government should fundamentally avoid doing anything that implies “a massive loss in jobs. That would be the worst-case scenario and would effectively bring about a strong social convulsion, which I am not sure that our weak democracy is in conditions to support.”
Argentina is on track to keep Employment at a stable level according to the forecasts. While the economy is dialing back on the current hyper inflation. Meanwhile the malinvestments by the massive government spending programmes are adjusted to normal, non subsidised levels.

  3. Having a balanced budget from a governmental standpoint does nothing to ensure the growth of your economic sectors. In many ways, it signifies to investors/shareholders that you intend for your economy to cool off, rather than the other way around.

People can talk about “Spending money that the country doesn’t have” all you want, but prioritizing a balanced budget over growing your economy is not productive. If anything, you inject capital into the stagnant economy, and then once growth is established you slowly cull back spending and/or increase revenue generation.

  4. Why give a shit about a 57% poverty rate when you have a balanced budget!

  5. Austerity&poverty for the working people = time to buy everything and **everyone** for the rich. Sex work will certainly be super cheap and ripe for exploitation.

TBH I expect them to have modern financial-feudalism (libertarian utopia) in the future.

  6. According to the chart in the article poverty has been increasing steadily since 2017, and the current increase is almost exclusively blamed on the effects of inflation, which is sitting at about 250% for the past 12 months, the majority of which occurred prior to the election (and was probably the main reason why Milei won in the first place)
