In Switzerland is well-known that even every commune has its own coat-of-arms. Since there are so many, I thought I’d share with you the good, the weird, and the absurd ones you find here! Enjoy!

I honestly had a lot of fun browsing through all these communal coat-of-arms. I love how some look more traditional, some minimalist and some just comically absurd. I have to say some of them did shock me, especially Gimel or Möriken-Wildegg (and who knows the Algorithm might flag my account now lol).
Beatenberg and Kaltbrunn go hard ngl
What does “Haute sorne” think they are, having money for a redesign and stuff fuck those snobs.
Very nice, I love it! The one you put under the violent ones on the top right isn’t violent at all. It’s depicting Saint Martin who cut his cape to give to a freezing beggar, so actually a rather wholesome story 🙂
I can explain the “Brusino – Arsizio”. Both words are related to Italian/Lombard words for “burnt”., although probably the coat of arms is a pun because it seems the origin of the name isn’t related to fire (https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brusino_Arsizio)
Thanks for sharing. Grabs and Beatenberg are the most martial ones.
Hauterive and Schiers didn’t get [the memo](https://youtu.be/0oNX_BHgi3c?si=MkrgiTjL3NK1qYr5)
Zell is clearly the winner here. Might be the new Swiss flag as well. It would fit perfectly.
neat, neat, neat, hold up, neat, neat, neat…
My favourite (not shown here) is Horgen’s angry swan. They even put eyebrows on it just to make it look super angry.
Great, thanks for sharing! 👍
Lichtensteig is easy its just the Letter L in old german writing
Guess whats on the entfelden coat of arms
> In Switzerland is well-known that even every commune has its own coat-of-arms
It is also worth noting that every Swiss family also has a coat of arms as this wasn’t a “royalty” thing in Switzerland
Every commune used to have a heralding office with a book that reported all the local coat of arms
What’s the story behind the ones showing black people ? Why are there so many similar flags ?
