  1. This is actually very serious: What if he was armed and intent on hurting people in a very public spectacle?

  2. take it seriously.. up with your security people but not with this guy. What law has he broken? He may have had an invite 🤷‍♂️ what’s the offence? Walking up some stairs whilst being cheeky?

  3. How could something like this even happen , can’t imagine how keen actors or actresses will want to come back

  4. The number of people defending this and not understanding why it requires looking into is WILD.

Did he do anything genuinely serious? No. But he still managed to do it. It could have gone wrong, and if no one looks at preventative security measures, something might go wrong in the future.

It’s more than just him thumbing his nose at the ceremony to get on TV.

  5. I’m picturing this interloper walking around afterward with an award like when Kramer got his Tony for Scarsdale Suprise.

  6. Benny Breman went on stage and accepted an Emmy for someone who he said couldn’t make it to the show, as she was waking up to the stage. He got a $1500 fine.
He also pretended to be an NBA player, an NFL referee and MLB umpire.

  7. I’ve gone to director talks at the BFI for years and it used to have little in the way of security, but noticed at Wed Anderson there was more than usual flanked on both sides of the stage. Seems to have been a feature there ever since. The org’s are clearly evolving in response to this sort of thing.

  8. It’s been quite a slippery slope lately. While nothing bad happened this time, we get closer to an eventuality each time. Confusion is a window, confusion is a weapon, and it’s actually *really easy* to cause mass confusion at events like these. Security needs to be on it, and security needs to prioritize safety over not causing a scene. I’d rather them go up and accidentally arrest all four of them, than for no one to do anything and Cillian Murphy gets stabbed.

    *Will Smith slaps Chris Rock.*
“Maybe running on stage isn’t so bad!”

*Random dude creeps behind top billed star and famous director.*
“Maybe getting really close to celebrities in public isn’t so hard!”

And it won’t be the Oscars or the Grammys where an incident happens. It’s going to be at film festivals, private screening, during stage productions, or even a stand up routine. With entertainers, with less security, who still have to perform for a living. I’ve seen more reactive security at a school play.

  9. Just look like you’re supposed to be there and no one will blink twice.

  10. Sounds like a dude with low self esteem and mental health issues.

  11. Really all I need to see is the words tik tok and I hope they throw the book at him. So tired of these aholes.

  12. This happened at the Game Awards a couple years ago. These events need to take security more seriously. We live in an era of social media fools doing dumb shit for any minute level of attention. Good or bad.

  13. About as seriously as when Will Smith invaded the stage and assaulted Chris Rock? Rules for thee, not for me.
