Crazy that Biden is still pushing for extradition over them exposing US war crimes.
The UK is so weak we’ll probably just accept it anyway with nothing in return, just like the killing of Harry Dunn, Inflation Reduction Act subsidies, attack on Nordstream, even the Atomic Energy Act in the past, etc.
Reminder for threads like this. Reddit is heavily astroturfed.
What law is he being extradited based on? For extradition to be used, the person has to have committed a crime that exists in the UK (at least that’s what I thought). What crime do we have that covers a person from another country publishing details while in another country, that we don’t want publishing?
Revealing war crimes – good.
Putting hundreds if not thousands of people’s lives at risk through uncensored leaks, running away from a rape investigation, treating RU/CN more favourably, wasting police/court resources for years and burning his supporters bail money – bad.
I swear this is the tenth time I’ve heard about a last ditch bid over the last five or so years
I’m betting he’s thinking that short stretch for rape in Sweden looked a good bet right about now.
The man is entirely self made. He’s nobody’s victim.
If your opinion isn’t that he should be released and allowed to live his life normally you are wrong.
Just to counter the disinformation that is always spread about this case – Assange is charged with actively persuading/ hiring others to break into US servers and giving direct assistance. He is not just charged with publishing information on wikileaks as several prominent figures like to claim. You can read the indictments yourself.
Whatever your views on his extradition it is better to debate the facts.
I lost all respect when he refused to go answer for rape, the court might have cleared him but he played it out until the women now cannot have justice.
