The Biden administration is working towards supplying Ukraine with powerful new long-range ballistic missiles, two high-ranking US officials have said

  1. From The Telegraph’s Laura Murgatroyd:

After months of requests from [Ukrainian officials](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/russia-ukraine-war/), the administration is reportedly willing to send a variant of the missiles – known as ATACMS (army tactical missile systems) – if the foreign aid package passed by the Senate last week becomes law.

The defence officials told NBC, the US has a limited supply of ATACMS and is not likely to send its own to Ukraine without money to replenish its stockpiles.

According to the officials, the US has not ruled out asking [Nato allies to provide the missiles](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/02/18/denmark-gives-all-weapons-artillery-ukraine-support-eu/) for Ukraine with the expectation that the US would refill the stockpile at a later date.

Last year, the US began to supply Ukraine with older medium-range ATACMS. The new variations of ATACMS that the White House wants to send to Ukraine will have a maximum range of nearly 300km (200 miles) and carry cluster bombs which would allow forces to strike farther inside Crimea.

The $95 billion (£75 billion) aid package, currently being delayed in the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, sees $65 billion for Ukraine with the rest going to Israel and Taiwan.

Donald Trump, the former president, and other Senate Republicans attempted to kill the foreign aid measure up until the vote. In a blow to Mr Trump, 22 Republicans defied him and voted alongside the Democrats in passing the measure.

For months, Republicans have been reluctant to support the Biden administration’s Ukraine funding and have said that they’ll only agree to it if the administration agrees to a package of Republican immigration and border security measures.

  2. so they want to send something they dont have and no money

  3. please, please, please. Kerch Bridge anyone? cluster munition variant 🙁
At least they can further threaten airfields.

  4. At their place I would rather work to provide the Ukrainian Army with 70000-80000 155mm shells per day, lots more and longer range AA systems, several thousands guided shells (like the Excalibur) PER DAY, the necessary mobile howitzers in sufficient number and several (500-1000) mine clearing equipment.

and all that RELIABLY for a longer period of time (around 5-7 years) in order to be able to plan anything and not have to prey that the next months nobody is blocking supplies for any reason.

This is what is really needed.

  5. How is he gonna do that? They can’t even provide them with the basic ammunition they are asking for.

  6. moscow mike is going to save the day again. Motherf***er

  7. God I hope he gets re-elected. He get the POTUS kitty topped up and it’ll be a new round of presidential aid

  8. Hopefully soon, there was no good reason whatsoever to delay this the last 18 months though. For that, Biden bears the sole responsibility.

  9. ‘Working’ sounds as if they’re manufacturing the missiles in their garages.

But I’m afraid that would be faster than whatever they’re actually doing right now.

  10. Dysfunctional USA with their grandious promises again.

If you had provided simple155mm shells in time I would believe you.

  11. Believe it when you see it. Trump will find a way of stopping it

  12. This is like the 100th time I’ve read this across a year and half. Stop.

  13. The gloves must come off ASAP! You can’t fight Russia with words and threats of sanctions. The WEST has to raise to stake

  14. I thought they couldn’t send weapons as the republicans are blocking everything

  15. How about just do it without broadcasting it lol I don’t understand why they release this kind of information

  16. The Biden administration can work also on sending submarines to Ukraine the problem is Donald Trump and all of his fuckers

  17. 1,5 years lát-e already… USA is not realible alliance…
