Yet still the third biggest in the league. Real Madrid’s cap is insanely high though, out in their own league entirely.
League adapted for Real Madrid
this is a pointless game, either we cap the max, or we dont, but having disparities like that its just retarded.
Note that Barça had the highest incomes from jersey and merchandise sales, commercials and stadiums last year with a total of 765M Euros..
Should pull out of la liga as protest because this is joke
Our financial issues must be worse than Laporta is telling us bc this simply doesn’t make any sense.
What the heck bro
Tebas League
how much do we need to reduce it by to be allowed to sign players again?
Does this mean max total salary paid to our players is 204M now?
Or is it for spending on players?
I see numbers, everything looks great but I think i am too dumb to understand
I’m not going to lie but I feel like we will have to become a feeder club for talents if this goes on. I wish with all my might that this isn’t the case
Can we increase our revenue to increase that figure or is it fixed?
It would be nice if the league explained what exactly decreased in the last 8 months.
That would help to understand if Laporta is bullshiting us and things are worse than expected or if something unplanned happened.
American sports mentality leaking into European football is lame and stupid. Barca being treated like a NFL or NBA team is stupid.
Another quick question: Didn’t we reduce our net debt for 150mil from 2021 to 2023? And aren’t the Laliga loosen the salary cap for teams? Shouldn’t we expecting a higher salary cap?
This let’s me think that laporta is bullshitting all of us and we are actually in a much worse state than before.. I mean it decreases every window.
Does LaLiga state anywhere how exactly those numbers are calculated?
I don’t understand how did it decrease so much. It doesn’t make sense…from September
Motion of censure is approaching.
So we have the highest attendances, most income from merchandise, and didn’t go trophyless last season like RM. Also sold players in the summer. We spent just 3.5m last summer.
Madrid will pay 150m + 15m annually to Mbappe. Already have the highest wage bill. Tebas literally said this week they, La Liga, we’re surprised at Felix making 400k a year so they themselves decided to adjust it for the sake of ‘fairness’
I’m honestly lost, how do they expect us to compete? The only player still on a contract given by Barto is FDJ, all other contracts were given by JL. Deferred wages yes, but a lot of players didn’t accept their deferred wages.
Madrid are left spend what they like, no consequences ever. They also had a debt the size of ours (1B+ as of 2020) and were building a stadium they can’t even fill.
Anyone who thinks this is all simply down to our own fault is naive, we’re being fucked by Tebas for not playing his game and wanting the super league.
just under 9mio per player in a squad of 23
So does that mean de Jong out?😶🌫️
Don’t tell me we are this fucked. That can not be true
Non-Barca fan here. Individual salary cap is one of the most anti-competitive regulations I’ve seen. Absolute nonsense and there are far better approaches to FFP.
FDJ GONE?
How tf does Real have 700M+??
**Lower revenue:**
We pulled several levers to temporary boost our revenue, such as selling a part of Barca Studios & Barca Licensing and Merchandising (BLM).
* In 2022, we have sold 25 percent of our future LaLiga TV rights to Sixth Street for the [next 25 years](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/news/2686108/fc-barcelona-and-sixth-street-reach-agreement-for-the-acquisition-of-an-additional-15-share-of-the-clubs-laliga-broadcasting-rights).
* We sold (or are still selling?) 49,9% of our [Barça Licensing & Merchandising (BLM) rights](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/club/news/2647931/extraordinary-general-assembly-approves-the-sale-of-a-minority-stake-in-blm-to-one-or-more-investors).
Those two levers combined boosted our Squad Cost Limit (SCL) from -144 million during the 2021-2022 winter window to 656 million in the summer window of 2022. However, Sixth Street takes 25% of our LaLiga TV rights every season. That’s a drop in TV right earnings & by selling our BLM, we slashed our merchandise/license revenue.
* Since 2020 we failed several times to qualify for the knock-out rounds in the Champions League, while Real Madrid reached the semis two times and even won the trophy in 2022.
* This season, we moved from Camp Nou to Montjuic. That’s around 40.000 less capacity than the former Camp Nou in an ideal situation. Since Montjuic is more difficult to reach, the average capacity has been lower. The average attendance last season was [83.498 average per match](https://www.sport.es/en/news/barca/spotify-camp-nou-the-envy-of-the-whole-of-europe-92060785). This season we barely pass the [40.000 attendance mark](https://as.com/futbol/montjuic-se-congela-n/), besides our CL campaign and El Clásico, which means in reality the difference might be closer to a difference of 45.000 per match.
**Higher expenditure:**
Since we pulled several levers in 2022, we were able to cover the wages of some of our highest paid players and even include new players, such as Lewandowski, Raphinha, Christensen & Kounde. Despite the departure of some of our legends last summer, such as Busquets and Alba and other well paid players such as Griezmann & Umtiti, we added new wages with the signing of Gundogan, Inigo and loans of Joao & Joao.
In addition to team changes, we have made several managerial changes these years. The last few seasons we sacked several managers including their staff. Signing the right manager is the first step, but with a new manager a new team of technical staff has the be build. That’s probably why we are linked with some of the less established names.
**Difference in expenditure since september 2023**
* This winter we signed Roque compared with last summer
* Balde renewed his contract
* MATS also renewed his contract
* Fermin moved from ‘youth player’ to first team player
* We finally managed to re-register Gavi to our first team
How long do we still have to pay busquets, alba, messi, and de jong?
It is going to be a hard few years coming up for the club. I don’t think we will be able to compete with Madrid let alone clubs like PSG and City. We have to find a sustainable way to get up to speed then get back to competing with Europe’s best. Laporta rushed the process.
When does the club come out on the other side of this?
What is the club doing with all this money it’s saving on transfers?
I really don’t understand. Club revenues are comparable to Real Madrid’s. Where’s the catch.
The idea of a salary cap is good but the execution is terrible, mainly on the high end. Any excesses or deficits get taken over to the next season and increase or lower the cap respectively. Look at RM, their cap is 727,5M, which is already way too much to be feasible since anything over 70% of revenue is generally regarded as financial suicide and their current revenue (22/23) is a little over 800M. They will never reach that figure so the cap will continue to increase regardless of their financial state for the foreseeable future.
This is not to bash Madrid, nor is it to accuse LL of preferential treatment. I am a RM-fan myself, not a Barca-fan. I’m just pointing out the terrible algorithm/system LL uses and their incompetence in general. I get deficits getting carried over because you want a way to punish teams who ignore the salary cap but carrying over excesses makes no sense whatsoever.
This is not unique to LL btw. The new FFP rules by UEFA are terrible as well. From next season on clubs are only allowed to use 70% of their revenue on squad management. That includes salary, transfer fees, signing bonuses and any other bonuses. Again the idea is very good but the figure makes no sense.
Take a look at Barca and RM. Pretty soon they will have renovated their respective stadiums. They already have state of the art youth- and training facilities. Operating costs are probably around 5% so what should they do with the other 25% of revenue? Sit on it? Pay dividends to shareholders in case of other clubs like Ajax? Have owners pocket it at clubs like United, Arsenal etc?
What I think will happen is clubs will take on massive short term loans thus increasing their ‘revenue’ for the season to a point where they can spend all their real revenue on the squad and then the next 4-5 seasons spend the excess 25% of revenue paying of the loan. Rinse and repeat.
Give the situation, Barca has to sell 3-4 starters: FDJ is a given, Araujo Pedri, Raphinha, Kounde? I think Barca as we know it is cooked. I don’t see a way out. Sell the club? Recall Laporta? who knows at this point. It will take a miracle to bridge the gap between Barca and the PL/Madrid in the long term
Just a few days ago, UEFA released a report that showed that Barça had the second highest wages in Europe in 2023. It was around 500M, second only to PSG. Now La Liga comes and tells us that Barça’s wages are going from 270M to 204M…
What do we make of these conflicting numbers and Laporta’s crazy excuses?
It appears to me this is one of those things that are made to confuse us on purpose, so we never know the real numbers, or how deep the hole goes.
Holy shit, 727! That’s serious fuck you money.
