“Germany is preparing to transfer long-range missiles to Ukraine”-The Moscow Times(translation in comments)

    A vote on this aid package is planned to be held in the Bundestag next week. The Taurus missiles, which Kyiv has long requested, are not directly mentioned in the project, but it refers to the “supply of additional necessary long-range weapons systems.”

    Taurus missiles can reach targets at a distance of more than 500 kilometers, with Moscow 450 km from the border with Ukraine. A special feature of the Taurus is that it can fly at an extremely low altitude of about 50 m. This makes it almost impossible for radar to detect it. According to Der Spiegel, about 600 Taurus missiles were purchased for the German armed forces a decade ago, of which about 150 are ready for operation.

    Back inthe spring of 2023, Ukraine appealed to the German government with a request to provide it with these missiles. However, in January 2024, the Bundestag rejected a resolution on the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, which was put to a vote by the Christian Democratic and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) faction. The initiative was then supported by 178 deputies, 485 were against, and three abstained.

    The Taurus is called an analogue of the British Storm Shadow, which has already been delivered to Ukraine and allowed its troops to attack far behind the front line. The Armed Forces of Ukraine used them in the attack on Lugansk, which was considered inaccessible to the weapons available to Kyiv.”-The Moscow Times

  14. Gear like this should be RUSHED to the front, not slow-walked. The longer it takes, the more lives are lost.

    A great solution to end the war in Ukraine?

    TACTICAL NUKE by Ukraine on Ukraine Territory?

    I’m starting to think Ukraine could drop a “tactical” Nuclear weapon on its own territory to kill mass build up of Russian Troops.This would not violate anything since it is Ukraine’s own land. However, Russia responding with a tactical nuke on Ukrainian Territory would be a violation and thus might involved a response by NATO?

    Imagine killing 20,000 – 30,000 Russian troops concentrated in one area and saving the lives of 10,000 of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians. Its a pretty logical Solution actually.

    This could end the war if a couple of them were used on the front line on Ukrainian land where there are not concentrations of Ukrainian population / civilians.

    I think this Tactical Nuke potentially solves lots of problems for Ukraine …. and possibly ends the war?

    If you don’t agree …..why would getting to the same # of deaths on Russia’s side using smaller arms make any sense while also killing Ukrainian soldiers and civilians?

    In the end ….it makes much more sense to use Tactical Nukes possibly?

  19. Most probably a token amount that will create a good PR type show but do very little to actually change the situation on the front line.

  20. luckily Germany is not at war, they would be dead with all this preparation time…
