  1. looks suspiciously similar to US’ 5th gen figher jet

  2. I know I’m going to be called a Turkish bot. But this is a really good development. Yes it’s gonna be a worse jet than f35 or its western counterparts. But my philosophy is that a worse locally manufactured good is better than a better a good foreign good. Especially for sensitive sectors like the defense industry.

  3. Most of these discourses develop in a similar fashion: -There’s no way turkey can produce that -Comparing the technology to iran -looks like the knock off version of x, y, z -how dare they use this independently developed technology against western satellite terrorist organisations without our approval

  4. Looks ok but it’s what its systems will be able to do under combat conditions is what matters.

  5. I don’t know about the quality but at least Turkey is making it’s own weapons and don’t count only in foreign ones.

  6. How the fuck are the Turks better at making a fifth-gen then EU states? This has nothing to do with “ohh Turkey weak” but with “where the hell do they have the industrial capacity and capabilities for that”??

Edit: Well, my wording was apparently very poor and now, both Turks and non-Turks don’t agree with it in one way or another. But have fun with the comments beneath, it’s very interesting^^

  7. Whatever the capabilities of this jet may prove to be, the advances in domestically produced aircraft in Turkey over the past decade has been pretty impressive. They went from barely having an industry to becoming a leading player in drones, breaking into international helicopter sales and even producing a fully domestic fighter jet with (supposedly) 5th gen features.

I’m no fan of AKP and the direction the country has taken in recent years, but credit where credit is due: their military industrial policy is showing results!

  8. I have to say that is impressive how fast they come up to this. I hear they made this by stealing money from the people but welll….. At least you made something and didn’t all go to waste like before. Just don’t fly it over Greece please it’s getting old already .

  9. Does it come with internal weapons bays or is it semi stealthy when loaded like the kf21? Regardless that’s an impressive achievement. If it delivers with performance it will threaten the rafale and potentially the kf21 market shares.

  10. Didn’t realize the Turks were so advanced. Oh boy.

  11. I’m far from being an expert and as a Turk, i can say it’s good advancement however still not there yet, especially as of now calling it 5th gen is quite misleading. We’re currently relying on F-16 engines that our personnel is really familiar with, and the relations with the US is lemon as with most western countries. So, don’t know about its future but not bad at all, hope to see it as a real 5th gen by the end of this decade. If you’re interested, look at Hürjet too. It’s the new training jet that can be modified as light fighter and personally i think, it will be highly cheap solution for operations on Syrian border among with the UAVs.

  12. ‘5th generation’ lol
With worse specs than 4th gen aircrafts…

  13. Turkish MIC has done miracles in just the past 10 years. And what’s amazing is that the Turkish state spends a comparatively low amount on defence as a % of GDP. So it’s not like they are throwing gobs of cash at the problem.

I still don’t understand how they did this so rapidly and the Turks I’ve asked don’t seem to have an idea either.

  14. it uses f16’s f110 engine and it is 4.5th Gen. for now.
