  3. Apparently congress pushed to have the raw, uncorroborated witness statement from Smirnov released to congress, who then splashed the Russian disinformation all over right-wing media, giving Russia a direct line to feed continued propaganda as “truth” to congress and the American people.

  47. Here’s the problem: Republicans knew this guy was a disaster, or knew enough. They don’t care.

    Their goal isn’t *really* to lock up Hunter Biden, or to find corruption between Joe Biden and his son.

    Their goal is the same thing as their goal was with Clinton. Make the Biden name synonymous with suspicion, with investigation, with distrust. Keep getting the headlines that say “Witness to possible Biden corruption to be interviewed” and “What *Really* Happend with Biden in Ukraine?” and all that. The stories, the witnesses, they all lead to nothing. But it sure worked for Clinton, right? What did everyone say about Hillary? “There’s just *something* about her I don’t like, that I don’t trust.” No one could point to an actual concrete thing, but years of suspicious seeming headlines built that aura of distrust.

    Same thing here, they don’t give a crap about whether any of this is true, and they know it’s pretty much all just made up B.S. But they don’t care, it’s the repeated messaging and the constant association of the word “corruption” with the name “Biden” they are after.

    Edit: It’s also the same thing they did with the ‘stolen’ election. There’s no real evidence. But they just keep repeating it anyway, talking about hearings, dead people voting, and all that. Again, it’s all B.S., but if you repeat the lies often enough, people will believe them.
