This is why I’m so glad I do shift work now, it has it’s ups and downs but you can have real days.
And what hours should the work in order to convince you?
Go on your break
There are independent cafes and restaurants near us who close on a Sunday or Bank Holiday. Surely it’s the perfect time to make some money on the days.
People in retail want similar hours of work i guess.
This. There is a dry cleaners below my flat – literally less than 1 minute’s walk, but I have never seen it open because it opens at 9 and closes at 5, and I’m at work at that time. I have to walk half a mile to another dry cleaners to get my suits done… it’s baffling how they manage to stay open!
What shops are ya’ll going to?
My shop is open 8 till 10
Society still operates as if every house has a housewife that can run chores during the day.
It would be funny, if it wasn’t so sad.
No business (owner) wants to make less money, of you pay the employees more than they charge more for the services which will most likely make customers go to the cheaper establishment inturn having the first place loose business. It’s like inflation, it never goes down things just end up costing more and your money is worth less.
It’s another reason why a staggered (I think that’s the word I’m looking for) 4 week working day would benefit the economy. Gives an additional day out of the week to shop locally.
Because it was usually women who did the shopping because they were considered to be home bodies, those who took care of the house and husband. The tradition just stayed and didn’t change in a world where people have a hard time notices real changes
Of you make it to management and then regional and maybe get your franchise than that’s something but not most people will do that.
My work sees me working up until 11PM. Enjoy your 9-5 you little whinger.
The majority of shops near me are open until at least 8pm
It would be easy for office workers to work outside of retail hours. I’ve done both. It matters if a retail employee isn’t there at 9.00. If an office worker is there at 11:00 instead of 9:00 makes no difference
Or is just that the country is run for the benefit of the retired and unemployed?
I’m not entitled lol I have worked my ass of my entire life to have what I have and I can still barely pay my bills. Hens the reason for growth
I’m speaking from a lower to mid class perspective
Sorry I think you misunderstood. Shops, cafes and restaurants are strictly for retirees. Now get back to work and pray you’ll live till 70 so you can enjoy a sunny Thursday afternoon as well
My local corner shop closes at 4 on a Sunday, this was your time to shine!
I worked flex-time my whole working life. Any company that doesn’t, seems pretty backward to me.
Easy solution: Remove 9-5 office work, make office workers hours unsociable instead, and leave shop workers alone so they can actually have a life. But something tells me this is not what office workers mean when they complain.
