North Yorkshire Vs west Yorkshire
A yorkshire girl I used to go out with took me up to her home town to meet some of her old friends..
I was expecting last of the summer wine, I got Thurnscoe and smack heads.
I always find village a confusing term. I grew up in a village in North Yorkshire. There was a shop, a school (20 pupils) and a pub. Residents about 200. To me that is a village and what you are showing is a town but I know I am wrong, it just feels very odd.
What ‘village’ looks like that? that bottom pic is a town/city.
My advice – watch any of Shane Meadows movies or series, he really does capture the whole ”This is what Yorkshire is really like” in his stuff.
There are villages like the top pic in Yorkshire. There are “villages” like the bottom pic in Yorkshire. I just thought you’d got off the bus at the wrong stop.
The Bottom one looks like Middlesbrough. The Top one looks like Harrogate
you drove too far north and ended up in stockton on tees/middlesbrough
So a Yorkshire village ISN’T like Emmerdale?.
That bench probably cost the council £20,000

What’s the top picture? It looks more Cotswolds or West Country than Yorkshire.
Remember that Gold Hill from the Hovis ad is in Dorset.
