[Fabrizio Romano] Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Greenwood: “We’ll try to understand the facts, not the hype. We’ll use values like is he a good guy or not, could he play sincerely for well, would we be comfortable with it, would the fans be comfortable with it…Then we will decide.”

  1. Here’s a tip Jim, he’s a no good scumbag. Hope this helps.

  2. Full quote from Ratcliffe for those who don’t read the article (everybody here)

    >It’s a fresh decision,’ he said.

    >ā€˜I can talk about the principle. I am not going to talk about Mason. I am familiar with it. The principle is the important one. We will have other issues going forwards.

    >’You are dealing with young people who have not always been brought up I then best circumstances, who have a lot of money and they don’t always have the guidance they should have.

    >’What we need to do when have issues like that is understand real affects not the hype then we need to make a fair decision in the light of the club’s values. That’s what we need to do and that’s how we will deal with it.’

    >**One of the main stories at Manchester United last year was what the club would do with Mason Greenwood (who is on loan at Getafe). That is now a problem on your doorstep as you control the sporting operation.**

    >ā€œI can talk about the principle. I am not going to talk about Mason. I am familiar with it. The principle is the important one. We will have other issues going forwards. You are dealing with young people who have not always been brought up in the best circumstances, who have a lot of money and they don’t always have the guidance they should have. What we need to do when have issues like that is understand the real effects, not the hype, then we need to make a fair decision in the light of the club’s values. That’s what we need to do and that’s how we will deal with it.ā€

    >**Will that be a fresh decision then?**

    >ā€œYes, absolutely. We will make a decision and we will justify it.ā€

    >**So it’s feasible he could still have a future at Man Utd?**

    >ā€œAll I can do is talk about the principle of how we will approach decisions like that.ā€

    >**What are the values you are defining?**

    >ā€œIs he the right type of footballer? Is he a good person or not?ā€

    >**We don’t want to misquote you or take this out of context. Are you saying you are not closing the door on Mason?**

    >ā€œHe’s a Manchester United footballer so we are in charge of football. So the answer is yeah, we have to make decisions. It’s quite clear we have to make a decision. There is no decision that’s been made. He’s on loan obviously but he’s not the only one. We’ve got one or two footballers that we have to deal with and we have to make a decision on so we will do that. The process will be: understand the facts not the hype and then try and come to fair decision on the basis of values which is basically is he a good guy or not, and answer could he play sincerely for Manchester United well and would we be comfortable with it and would the fans be comfortable with it.ā€

  3. Greenwood has not been found guilty of anything, and there are probably legal ramifications if United publicly or privately uses these dropped charges as a reason to punish him.

My prediction is that they’ll continue to loan out the rest of his contract and then part ways, or they will attempt to buy him out. I think they should buy him out and pay extra for it if they need to.

  4. I did notice Ramus Hojlund started following Greenwood on Instagram the day after Jude Bellingham called him a Rapist. Doesn’t surprise me if people within the club, whether that’s players or even the owners are willing to look the other way (or even think he hasn’t done anything wrong) when it comes to this kind of stuff.

  5. Money talks and Radcliffe will be wanting to ensure he goes for the highest price possible

  6. Putting money before disassociating yourself with a fucking rapist. Money is the only reason he is still on their books

  7. These comments seem designed to raise his price. Clubs be will have to pay more if they think he has a chance of staying and being accepted. I don’t think Sir JR would divide the fan base over a single player so early

  8. He’s coming back, half the ā€˜on the fence’ fans will lap it up, and it’ll get swept under the carpet.

    Lovely stuff…

  9. Idk why most people seem to be reading this as a ā€œhe’s coming backā€

I feel like he doesn’t check 2/4 of those boxes (he’s not a good guy and I think enough of the fan base wouldn’t be comfortable with him , though obviously there are those who do want him back)

Playing sincerely for well (whatever that actually means) and whether the team are comfortable with it become the two matters up for question.. at least how I’m reading it

But I could be entirely wrong

  10. They 100% want him back because he’s good enough to play for them. Businesses are amoral but their behaviour is checked by social mores. If they thought they could sell the idea that everything’s fine because he married the woman he beat the shit out of they would. Social media users in the UK won’t have it though so it seems unlikely he’ll ever play for united again.

Personally I think he should be in jail regardless of his partners refusal to assist with the investigation, the evidence is easily enough to take to court. The CPS tries cases with far less evidence.

  12. Meaning what. . . . loaning out Anthony. and get the rapist back. sounds good. ngl.

  13. No, we wouldn’t be comfortable with it. Piece of shit abusive rapist

  14. Well if a guy comes out and says ā€œhe’s never playing for us again because that would be PR suicide and morally unconscionableā€ then he can’t really turn around and demand a price for him can he?

That’s all this is. MG will never play in England again

  15. he aint coming back. let him go. stop making this a talk.

  16. I love it when people call into question the integrity of City after we see stuff like this. Greenwood will be back at United as they have zero moral fibre. I’m from Manchester and know people that worked at United. Their former owner was a sex pest in the women’s toilets for many years. Well known for it.
