Carlisle man admits modern slavery of victim kept in shed

  1. I remember reading about this when the man was found, the suggestion being he’d been kidnapped back in the seventies. I’m glad to hear justice has been served and he’s getting the care he now needs.

    That’s one way of describing keeping someone as a slave I suppose

    How can some people be so lacking in empathy for their fellow humans

  3. This is the kind of case where civil forfeiture should really be a thing. Liquidate all his assets and give the money to the victim.

  4. Seems like he’s owed about 40 years of back pay, plus interest, and any penalties appropriate for the dismal housing. Should be interesting, I’m guessing he’s getting the house now.

  5. Travellers sites/farm work seems to be where this sort of slavery takes place. 40 years. I just cannot imagine. I wonder if he was family of some sort as they don’t mention any
