Technically all of Hampshire is classed as “south east”, despite being generally central on the south coast. It doesn’t make sense to me that The New Forest is in The South East, in the same way how Farnborough is not in The South West, but due to them being in the same county they are grouped together in the same region. This map I did I feel gives a more accurate representation of each area’s region.

I can see what you’re saying, though I’ve found then when I’ve actually been in the south-west (as officially defined) and come back to, say, Southampton I have felt I’ve crossed into a different region.
It’s all very subjective though, especially in areas like Hampshire which is borderland.
