Supreme Court Seems Ready to Block a Biden Plan on Air Pollution. Several conservative justices were skeptical of the administration’s “good neighbor” rule on cross-state pollution, meant to protect downwind states from harmful emissions.

Why do people get off on destroying the environment? I swear they do it out of spite
Bought.
While I’m everyday glad I live in Canada, it causes me so much pain to see things like this. I genuinely don’t see the logic here (besides the obvious money hungriness although I still don’t get that), if we end up creating a better and more sustainable society and it turns out that climate change *is* fake (which it’s not obv), then we still have a better more sustainable society either way
>The Clean Air Act gives states an opportunity to devise their own plans, subject to approval by the E.P.A. Last February, the agency concluded that 23 states had failed to produce adequate plans to comply with its revised ozone standards. The agency then issued its own plan.
Whose pain and suffering counts? Republicans see only lost profits as injuries worthy of concern. The tactic of the powerful is to use legal obstruction to delay any action to limit harm to people.
Government should be the instrument people can use to counter concentrated corporate power. But for that to work people have to understand how badly they are being used when they live under corporate dominance. “Red States” like the Confederacy have never served the interest of most of the people who called those states home. Coal power plants don’t help Ohio people. Jobs do. And any decent environmental or climate policy must pay people and help them find new work if they get displaced from their jobs to protect other people. We can’t be each other’s enemy.
Of course, this Supreme Court can’t imagine real people’s lives. Freedom = $. Regulation is theft.
Well, this is the same court that rolled back clean water…
When states refuse to be good neighbours, they are promising to be bad neighbours.
How can a union of bad neighbours remain united?
