  1. I am fine with this if any ball damage can be sent to and paid for by the charity.

    Otherwise they can fuck off.

  2. While I agree with them in principle, who’s going to pay when someone accidentally puts a cricket ball through my window?

Ping pong balls and lightweight footballs though? Seems sensible to me

  3. ‘No Ball Games’ sign used to make a good basketball ‘basket’ when growing up. Yes children need to be encouraged to play outside more, rarely see any kids playing outside anymore

  4. Find a kid that actually takes notice of those signs and I’ll donate.

  5. They should go – not just for the charity’s reason but also for the visual horror that is the Lambeth logo of the 80s/90s

  6. Just rephrase them “No Playing With Balls” so drunk students will steal them all, job’s done

  7. That’s a terrible idea. I remember those signs were perfect targets for practicing football shots.

  8. We just tippex over the sign to it real

    __ _ALL GAMES

    ALLOWED

    take that authority.

  9. I was the sorta kid who would find a loophole in this and play badminton while rollerblading with a mate on a scooter

  10. Up in Aberdeen the Denis Law legacy trust runs ‘streetsport’, an initiative to get kids into positive activities like sports in the evenings after school.

Their motto is ‘yes ball games’ and there’s been a concerted effort to remove these signs. They’ve partnered with Cruyff Courts, another charity that builds multipurpose spaces for kids to participate in sports in urban areas.

I think it’s a great idea personally. I’d rather see kids playing ball games than hanging around shops, street corners or getting up to mischief cause they’re bored.

  11. Who’s funding this charity that’s got nothing better to do?
