I have seen them harassing people on many occasions and it surprises me that people actually fall for whatever they are telling them. Personally, I ignore them because they don’t look like someone who is in desperate need of money.

Hopefully not.
Romanian beggers are nearly always linked to organised crime, more than likely human trafficking.

Had someone like this beg me for money said he was going to buy food gave him some change and saw him go in and waste it all on beer not even good beer the cheapest shit beer ever
They’re romany gypsies from Bulgaria. Our former prime minister told not to give them money.
Yes some ppl give but you shouldnt, i have seen many Times when those beggers buy new clothes then they damage them looking like shit and go begging
Do not give money to anyone in Finland. Anyone in DIRE need (such need that you would need to beg) will be provided, even foreigners.
These are either scams and/or organized crime.
They are all scammers.
No, 20 years ago it was shocking to see people asking for money on the street in finland. There was only that one lady by the s-market in hakaniemi who would ask for money in the all of helsinki. I wouldn’t bother.
NO, never give any money to beggers.
A few years ago during a bright sunny day:
Scammer: “Please, I need 20€ for bus to Oulu”
Me: “I don’t carry cash with me”
Scammer: “ATM is not far away. Maybe you’d be kind and help me out”
Me: “Ok”
We started walking to ATM direction.
Him: “Excuse me please, we passed the ATM”
Me: “No problem. We’re going to cops van that direction. It is right there. They’d be happy to help you”
Him. *absconded*
It’s common for fools to do so.
I do sometimes when I feeling rich. I also straight up buy them food sometimes
no its not, theyre scammers, i always just say “no, thank you” and walk past, i dont take eye contact with beggars, ever.
these days everyone struggles with finances and most nice things you see common people having are bought with monthly payment plans.
Yes some people are dumb and think they will help the beggar. That’s why they keep coming back to Finland. There should be a law against begging but somehow our politicians can’t get it done. It’s annoying.
no, not common
Never give money. If you want to help and can afford it offer to buy them the ticket or food etc that they are asking the money for. Most of the time they will refuse the offer because they are lying about why they want the money.
Few years ago in tampere I felt like the goto scam is/was “do you know the directions to xyz” usually bus or train and then asking for like 1-2 euros. Obviously I do not give them and just say “sorry, I’m working I do not have my wallet”. Usually that makes them somewhat offended (at least I’ve felt like they are trying the guilt route). Also if its my personal view and/or experience, but if they and point to the closest ATM they are trying to steal your details even in broad daylight.
TL;DR Never give them any money ever.
Once I was in Helsinki and a guy came up to me and my family and he had a sob story written about his starving family on a napkin. We didn’t give anything to him. 30 minutes later, this mf was eating a whole McDonalds meal on his own. No it’s not common, and most of them are bullshitting anyway.
That money goes to gypsy mafia, that is supporting organized crime. If they are asking money for the food, offer to buy the food for them
It’s not. Is very uncommon and not recommended.
No. They are commercialized beggers. It is a sort of grey business and really dirty money. You should not give any money to these
