  1. Couldn’t it also be she just reached the age of a typical young mother, thusly had more roles offered to her where she played a young mother lol? Like maybe the baby didn’t have as much to do with it? “Once I turned 60 a lot more grandmother roles were offered to me, but that’s Hollywood for you.”

  2. Kind of similar to when an actor comes out as gay, chances are he wont get anymore heterosexual romantic lead roles or action roles.

Hollywood really doesnt like to take chances on casting.

  3. Was there a great general awareness in town as to whether Amanda Seyfried was a mother yet or not, so they could adjust accordingly?

  4. She was offered the role of Gamora in Guardians Of The Galaxy but turned it down. Those chances don’t often come around.

  5. An actress in her 30s getting cast as a mother isn’t some crazy leap though and I think that would have happened whether she had kids irl or not

  6. And men get cast as older men as they get older.

    Wtf is she on about?..

Seems like she’s just upset that she’s getting older and the types of roles she’s having to take are changing.

Men are only cast as sexy leading men as long as they can stay sexy. Nobody’s gonna hire an ugly old man to play James Bond or Ethan Hunt and nobody hires a chubby guy to play an action hero.

It bugs a crap out of me when people talk about these double standards without even looking at the actual media landscape that’s supposedly holding this standard.

When you’re sexiness is part of the appeal of your acting career, that’s going to dissipate as you age. It’s easier to let go of that. If you don’t make sex appeal a large part of your draw in the first place.

  7. Well, she’s in her 30s and an actual mother, so is that surprising?

  8. I don’t understand, it is not weird to offer a mom role to an actual mom.

  9. So shocking that she got mother roles when she became the age of a typical mother. Why is that surprising to her?

  10. I, similarly, can only get roles as a 30-something white male.
    It’s bullshit.

  11. If she doesn’t like it then she should step aside and let an actress who would appreciate the opportunity get the part.

  12. Getting cast for a role that you now have real life experience for. Appalling.

  13. I bet she wasn’t saying “that’s Hollywood for you” as she racked up non-mother roles before she was a mom.

  14. I remember seeing a show where the twist was Famke Janssen was an adult characters mother and I was like “Bullshit!” Then looked up their ages and she would’ve had them at around 26. Fucking Dutch.

  15. “Hollywood needs more accurate representation”

    Moms playing mothers.

    “NOT LIKE THAT, STUPID HOLLYWOOD”

  16. She’s 8 years older than my mother was when I was born, this is nothing

  17. Wow. Someone with experience is being considered first for a role? Next, water is wet, and the sky is blue, more at 11. R Lee Ermey didn’t fucking complain when someone wanted him to play a Sargent.

  18. “Now that I’m a mother, I also play one in movies” wtf is the news here?

  19. It’s crazy that a mother would be asked to step outside her reality and be asked to act as a mother.

It’s crazy they’d think she could do it.
